Is the Tati store in Paris, France have guys clothing too? |
I know that it has wedding dresses and really cool and unique choices, but does it hold stuff for guys as well? I want some clothing from Europe while I'm here, are there also any suggestions as what I should buy? |

Oh don't bother going. I went to it because it was in my tour book and said its cheap but good, but it's not. It's absolutely rubbish. Its terrible quality. I would buy their clothes for cleaning or something! Was a pointless journey there, and it is located in a horrible part of Paris. |

You're coming to Paris to buy your clothes at Tati's !
Reminds me of a story I once read about an overheard comment "I always stay at Claridges when I'm in London. It's so near Marks and Spencer".
I think Wal Mart is quite up-market compared to Tati.
I sometimes go to the Barbes area. It's a good way of visiting exotic countries without paying an air fare. |

Yes it does but Tati is not known for its quality or even good taste even though if you look hard through the mess you can find some good stuff. They have a very small selection of discounted designer stuff, otherwise most of their clothes are not stylish at all.
It is a hard discount store so it is mostly known for its incredibly low prices but if you buy clothes there, stitches come off after the first wash, colors run, fabrics shrink, etc. The only exception is the wedding dresses and suits in the Tati Mariage section, which is good for the price.
Avoid the one in Barbès unless you are ready for some serious cultural shock (it's messy and constantly overcrowded with people pushing you and stepping on your feet) and endless waiting lines at the cash register. Go to the one near République or those on the left bank. |

For me, I found shopping in Tati was the French version of Wal-Mart. If you want cheap stuff, that is your place. A few bargains to be found but you have to hunt and the store is always crowded... |

Yes. Tati comes in handy if you're in Paris for longer than the standard vacation- i.e. if you're going to live in Paris for at least a few months- and you're on a tight budget. I used to live in Marcadet-Poissonniers, which is a short walk from Barbès-Rochechouart, so I'm quite familiar with the Tati store there. While it is indeed crowded and somewhat chaotic, it's not as bad as some of the responders here would have you believe. (I agree, however, that you're better off going to one of the locations other than Barbès-Rochechouart if you want the experience to be less stressful.)
If you're only in Paris for a short time, however- especially if you're going to a wedding- you might want to consider shopping in more upscale stores, if your budget allows for that. I mostly went to Tati to get emergency underwear and t-shirts when I didn't feel like going to the laundromat to do laundry. |
