the only ones i know of are roughly 4 hours north of Paris look at a map

They often put deck chairs and fake sand down by the side of the Seine near the main bridges so you can pretend you are by the seaside even though you're in the middle of Paris!

I had to laugh at that answer saying that the only city with a beach was Barcelona! ha ha. What about Aberdeen?

why not also try the Nautic base of La Villette, it's in Paris, and there are lots of cool sports (rowing...) open to all including children (I think they are required to know how to swim just in case ... LOL), their site (with english version) is

Also, Deauville, le Touquet are very nice and only a couple of hours away in Normandy. If you have time, or if it is a bit too cold to swim or take the sun, go to Mont Saint Michel, near by it is really beautiful and has a huge beach, with a very fast tide, watch out. pics and info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Saint_Michel

I depends on how you define "near". You could go to Le-Touquet Paris-Plage or Deauville perhaps. I'm guessing they're roughly a couple hours or so from Paris by train.

Paris is 300 miles inland, I don't think you will find a beach near.

Paris ,??? don't you see where is Paris ? so for help you there is no beach, no sea, no sand ... only " La Seine " but it's a " fleuve " sorry I don't know how to translate it but If you want to swim here it's dirty !!! because there is always some boat ... ship ...yeah !!!

You can get to the Normandy Coast in about 2 hours by train from Gare du Nord - that is the closest beach you'll find.

There is some very pretty countryside not far from Paris, though - Chantilly Forest is only 35kms away; Versailles is even closer.

Paris is pretty inland, but the north west coast might be just a day trip a way. I would try the lonely planet website they are good at that.

Look at a map. Paris is quite a long way from the sea.The nearest coast is round the Le Havre part of the English Channel .When you say a day out trip how far would you expect to go?. The distance from Paris to this part of the coast is about 130 miles or 211 kilometres.

No it is well inland you can get a fast train to the coast but the best resorts are in the south and a very long way off.Paris is not really a destination for beach lovers.

Manmade beach 'Paris plage' has been made along the banks of the Seine. Paris is not on the coast!

Paris is inland, there is no beaches in the area. If you want, you can head up north towards Normandy at the English Channel. That would be the closest area to go to the beach.
That drive from Paris to Normandy beaches is around 3 hours or so, depending on the traffic heading out of Paris on the peripherique, which can be a pain in the ***!!!!
But that would be your best bet. Or you can take the TGV down to Cote D'Azure if you want to do that.

there is a man made one on the river seine near to the bastilion. but it's only there for the summer. apart fron that the nearest is about 200 miles,

everyone that laughs take a trip up the river on a sight seeing tour and voila

Silly Question!!!

Deserves a silly answer, swim up the seine and you will find the Le Harve, from there you can find some beaches on the Channel.
But head south and you will reach eventually the Med and some really nice beaches.

why not take a look at the map! its a long way to the sea and most of the day will be travelling why are you going there if you want a beach holiday or next time try a 2 centre holiday that way you can do both shopping and sun and sea !
