we don't actually have motels like in the US or in England but there are cheap hotels called Formule1 or Premiere classe.

@SoniaL r you serious? we're dealing with paris france and I've never seen a hotel room for 15$ night over here. even where I live, Lyon france, you can't find a room costing less than 60 bucks a night

Ninette
what do you mean saying "motel" ?

Paris is an expensive city... but you can find a double room in the center for 50 euros ( +/-70$), near Gare de Lyon...(I speak about the places I know, but I imagine that you can find others in others places ...)

There are loads of places to stay in Paris.

abuela Nany
You will not find motels, such as those in the USA or New Zealand, where you drive to the door of your room.
In Europe we only have hotels...
There are many hotels with private garages or parking areas to leave ones car safely. But the format "motor hotel : room + car" does not yet exist here.
If you are looking for hotels in Paris check out the following:

SUE
They don't hop into cars and drive like we do in the US, so the concept of a place to stay for the night, with a big parking lot does not exist. The comparable type of lodging would be a pension, or a one-star hotel, hostal, or as some have mentioned, there are other classes that I'm not familiar with.

There ARE Best Westerns and Holiday Inns in Spain, on the outskirts of cities such as Madrid, but I'm not sure how similar their makup is to the American model. I would be willing to bet you could find some American chains outside Paris, as well.

It's right next to Luxembourg Gardens, ten minutes walk from Notre Dame. I paid 53 euros a night for a room with a double bed, shower in the room, and a balcony. There is private parking as well. That's about as close as you'll get to a "motel" in paris, I think.
