What kind of help do you need?
I spent nearly 2 years in Aquitaine as I lived in Bordeaux. The region is huge and is divided into several "départements" : Gironde, Landes, Dordogne, Lot et Garonne and Pyrénées Atlantique.
Biggest cities are : Bordeaux, Agen, Perigueux, Bergerac, Biarritz, Dax, Bayonne ...
It has the best winewards of France, lots of history (the Lascaux Cave is in Dordogne), food is great (wonderful West Southern French food), ocean isn't that far and some places are well known for surf such as Lacanau or Mimizan or Biarritz, montagne isn't that far either with the Pyrénées.
You can go there by plane (there's an airport in Bordeaux and in Bergerac), by train (Paris is only 3 hours away thanks to TGV) or by car (although "interstate" are not free in France you have to pay a "fee" to use them).
Here are some famous people that were born in Aquitaine :
# Francois Mauriac (1885-1970), writer
# Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), music writer
# Francis Cabrel (1953-), singer
# Pascal Obispo (1965-), singer
# Noir Désir, Rock band
# Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592), philosoph and political man
# Montesquieu (1689-1755),philosoph
# Clément V (1264-1314), Pope
# Henri IV (1553-1610), King of France
# Armand Fallières (1841-1931), former president of the French Republic
# Jacques Chaban-Delmas (1915-2000), Former Mayor of Bordeaux
# Alain Juppé (1945-), Former Prime Minister of France, current Mayor of Bordeaux
# Frédéric Bastiat (1801-1850), economist
# René Lacoste (1904-1996), tennis player
# Louison Bobet (1925-1983), cyclist
# Didier Deschamps (1968-), footballeur / (that is soccer player in the US)
