There's plenty of them, but mostly on the western side of the Azur coast. Eastern side is mostly cliffs (called calanques)

though you find some sandy beaches there too. Camping on the beaches is forbidden but you have plenty of camping sites nearby.

On the east side, Bandol is a nice place, with a camping, small sandy beaches, and calanques.
For only sand, you have St Tropez of course, or Le Lavandou, Hyeres, or as said above Antibes or Cannes which are both expensive and without much camping room.

On the west side you have less well known places but just as nice, even up to the Pyrenees mountains. Here is a list of all the beaches you can find.

Bonjour Joe!
I am french and I live close to the endless and sunny beaches of the Atlantic shore. Here, on 400 kilometers, from the Gironde estuary to the Pays basque, this is a dure area. (The most famous of them is the "Dude du Pila")
If I have an advise to give you, this area is a little paradice, a long straight line of desert beaches (often, only a cycle track leads to the sea) . boarding the largest forest of western Europe; the "Parc Régional des Landes de Gacogne".
For camping, camping sites are numerous and affordable.
As I have no site to propose to you, what I can do is to propose you pictures, if you want. So, I give you my own adress. Do not hésitate to contact me.

And welcome in France!

Cannes, St Tropez, Antibes all have sandy beaches. But, don't try to camp out on any beaches in France, wild camping is illegal. You will need to stay in a camping ground.

Yes, they are part of the French Riviera. Saint Tropez is one of the cities in this area.

there are sandy beaches in france, especially in the riviera... however, these beaches are usually full of tourists and you barely have space, my best guess is to find a secluded beach far from most touristy areas were there would be less people!
good luck!
