The hotel in paris called the ideal hotel is situated on 108 Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris.

I was wondering whether anyone knows if this is near the metro and different popular sites of Paris and how much a taxi would be around this area? And whether this is an inconvenient area to be in when you're looking to have an active travelling and sighseeing holiday in Paris?

Thank you for any help that can be given

This address is in Paris proper, ie. within the city limits, and therefore is close to a metro station since every address in Paris proper is close to a Metro station.

You will be a 3 minute walk to the Cite Universitaire stop of the RER and about a 9 minute walk to the Porte d'Orleans metro station.

It would be somewhat more convenient to stay closer to the geographic center of the city. For example, you are about 4 kms to Notre Dame (the geographic center of Paris). That's more than most people would want to walk and about a 15-20 minute trip by public transport.

As pointed out by a previous answer, this address is in Paris proper, but just about, since it's pretty much next to the peripherique. The closest Metro station is Porte d'Orleans, and closest RER is Cite Universite. The arrondisement this hotel is in is the 14th.

This address is quite to the south of the city, so it's not particularly close to most popular sites of Paris. If you want to actively travel and sightsee in Paris, it will not be as convenient as accommodations that are located, say, in the Latin Quarter (postcode 75005, or 5th arrondisement) or the Marais (75004, the 4th arrondisement).

In general, the central geographic area would be from arrondisements 1 to 8 (postcodes 75001-75008), but they can be rather pricey because of the very same reason.

However, if you do plan carefully, you can cluster places a few sites that are within walking vicinity of a particular area that you want to visit. That way, you take the Metro/RER out to that area in the morning, and back to the hotel later in the day by Metro/RER after you've done the sightseeing.

There are quite a number of sites clusters around the 7th arrondisement (Eiffel Tower, Invalides, Musee du Quai Branly, Trocadero), 5th (Latin Quarter, Pantheon, Luxembourg, St Michel, easily walkable to Notre Dame, Musee d'Orsay, Louvre), etc.

If you're going to travel by Metro/RER, it's best to buy tickets in 10 ie a carnet of tickets. It's cheaper than buying tickets individually. As you're travelling within central zone, you don't need multiple zone ticket on the RER.

You could consider cycling using the Velib but do be very careful about the traffic and safety in general.

Check out Latin Quarter particularly the St Germaine area. Love it when I stayed there. Lots of attractions are within walking distance and plenty of restaurants and shops around. This place is buzzling and the buildings are the very traditional parisian ones. Fabulous area and with some research you can get good rates especially last minute in low season.

all of the above said it right, consider staying in the 5th 6th 7th better.
the 14th is a bit far off from sightseeing stuff.
its not necessarily a bad/dangerous neighborhood but you will waste time in transport/
