Is travelling to St. Tropez worth a visit during August, or will it be over populated and over priced?

It is worth a visit it will be busy it is always over priced you can see it here http://www.a-taste-of-france.com/st-tropez.html

The only time to go is August. Yes its busy and you end up in huge hot and sticky traffic jams but thats all part of the fun. As for prices we buy all our food and drink at out of town hypermarkets and picnic evreywhere we go very cheaply.

Saint-Tropez is a very nice place to visit but, for the sake of God, not in August! It is over-populated, it takes sometimes more than two hours to get in the town because of traffic jams.
If you really want to do so, go to Sainte-Maxime and take the boat which crosses the bay. It is a nice experience if the boat does not sink because of so many people on...

We went a few years ago but went at the start of September. It is a beautiful place and not that over priced-you just get to find out where not to eat and drink. I would say that it will be vey busy but if you want to see some celebs than is prob the ideal time. We stayed a few km out of St Tropez in a place called Pampelonne at a villa that Joan Collins had stayed in a few years ago. That is my one and only claim to fame! Hope you enjoy it.

It is the peak season in France and extremely busy. The prices are higher than June or July. If August is a must, your best bet is rent an apartment or house for a week near the beach, so you can walk. Traffic is terrible. There is a great website in France www.pap.fr, that has listings from private owners renting their flats and houses as they usally leave town during the high season.

Kind regards, Wendy
