Just wondering..but why's everyone giving my France answers such bad ratings?!? |
I actually live in France and can give accurate answers compared to some other people. Additional Details Except that the question didn't specify train stations, so I had to assume in general and IN GENERAL there are still places that accept the franc. |

Unfortunately, as you can see, there are people who use the "thumbs down" for reasons other than expressing disagreement with the answer.
These people can be very illogical.
Notice, for example, two of the reasons given.
"People who vote for their own answer as best answer." Presumably each person gives the best answer they can. If when voting comes your answer IS the best then you absolutely ought to vote for it.
"People who give the same answer" If the same question is asked, as is often the case, then clearly the same answer is called for. The answer to "What is the best way to get from CDG to Gare du Nord" or "How much does it cost to go up the Eiffel Tower" simply don't change.
Frankly, it seems that the entire "thumbs down" exercise has been taken over as a way for neurotic individuals to express their own personal prejudices and to give themselves some small measure of belief that they actually have some importance ion the world.
In other words, pay no attention and don't let it detract from your enjoyment of Y!Answers.
EDIT@LeFeeFan: That is a different matter than the one you first raised although this appears to simply being a matter of your answering in a language which is not your native language.
What you seem to object to is people answering the same question with an answer that was already given in response to that question.
There are reasons why that is done, some good and some bad.
The good reason is that an answer may be correct but not provide sufficient detail or not be explained completely.
This is often the case when directions are asked. It is correct to answer the question "How do I get from CDG to Notre Dame" by saying "Take the train" but that is probably not enough information for the average tourist. Giving a complete explanation of where to find the ticket booth, how to ask for a ticket, what the ticket will cost, how long the ride will take, etc etc is perfectly reasonable. |

Some people don't like contributors who provide almost the same answer two days later, me too.
Some people don't like contributors who vote for their own answers as best answers, me too.
When I ask whether a currency is able to be used beside the Euro I would mean that I can use it at trainstations to pay my ticket, in a bus to pay the fare, in a post-office to buy stamps. If you say I can do that don't be surprised to get thumbs down.
edit:
@ rillifan
I cannot agree with your argumentation. I personally use the "thumb down" tool only if an answer clearly infringes the law. But there are "best answers" which I really do not understand. Example:
Question: American passport in France?
Can anyone help me with this, i was born in Ireland, lived in America for 16 years, i have now moved back to Ireland and i still have an American passport, can i travel to France with out a visa with an American passport. I canât get any information out of the airline so please someone help..
Answer#1: American passport holders can enter France or any other EU country for up to 90 days without a visa.
o 6 days ago
Answer#2: Sure, Americans can stay in any of the Schengen countries for up to 90 days at a time, (out of, I guess, 180 days).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_countries
o 6 days ago
Answer#3: you can for 90 days, but you will have less hassles traveling on your Irish passport (if you have one of those too)
o 4 days ago
What is the best answer in your opinion? The first given, the one with the link provided, or the third one given after two days?
I agree if you say a contributor has the right to vote for his answers but if he or she notices that other answers are more applicable the right is terminated in my point of view.
I would never answer a question if the correct answer, in my opinion, has already been provided. I then use the "thumb up tool" to honor the answer. It would be much easier if everybody would do it this way. |

I've seen several of your answers and I perfectly understand why you have bad ratings.
Your answers are usually false, and you say bullshit sometimes: for instance when you say that the quality of the health care is faaaaar better in the US because your dentist bla bla bla... this is totally WRONG.
And that's not the only case (Franc...).
Even if you live in France, it seems you don't know France and the French people very well so stop answering. |

Personally I thought your answer about strikes was good because I agree with you. Though I could imagine that the people who don't have your experience may want to keep the idea they have about France and how seducing it would be to have the right to slack and accuse "the man" of all of their misery... |
