Marseille, France?

I might be going to Marseille. It is between Marseille and Montpellier. I haven't heard much about either place, so it would be great if someone could tell me what they thought of either place.

Go to Montpellier! It's less out-of-the-way than Marseille, and the people are much nicer to foreigners. Although I'm sure several people will reply to you saying that Marseille is a beautiful, historic city with great weather, that all applies to Montpellier too, and you don't have to put up with the attitude that always accompanies someone from Marseille. People from Marseille think that they're something special, which they aren't. It's also less cramped, messy and polluted in Montpellier (Marseille rivals Paris on the dog-turds per square foot count) , and they tend to have fewer riots as they have fewer immigrant districts.

Have a nice harbor, les callanques (a beautiful place to see), is located near the sea and have a nice weather in winter and hot in summer.

People there support only one foot-ball team Olympique de Marseille and hate Paris Saint Germain which is the team of Paris. Most of the time when these 2 play vs each other there are problems : fights, custody, bus burned.

Marseille is located near beautiful other cities : Cannes, Nice, Monaco.

One speciality, Marseille and Paris are the only 2 towns in France which military fire fighters. It doesn't make a huge difference though.

zidane is from marseille , the most muslim city of france
visit marseille and you ll visit algeria at the same time
montpellier has more students and is more modern

paris
Is a difference between these two cities. Depends of you: Marseille has the sea, wonderful monuments and much fun. In Montpelier you'll find more silence.
