Well i live in one room which has a balcony and kitchen and seperate bathroom for €580 a month, i live in the 17th arrondissment.Like someone said do your homework or you will have a huge surprise. The health system is very good but not free, you pay and then get refunded a certain percentage of the fee which your insurance should cover.Id advise not to move near the tourist sites otherwise you will pay top dollar.
Look in this magazine which is for English speaking expats...

Live in Paris just like living in Manhattan. It's quite expensive. You don't need to have a car because it's impossible to find a parking space and garage is premium. My sister used to live outside of Paris but she and her husband both worked in town. They just took a train to work everyday. Now they move to Aix-en-Provence so they can have a bigger house.
Public transportation is convenience and more affordable. My nephew and his wife are still living in Paris. They share one car because it doesn't make sense to have 2 cars if you can't park. Housing is expensive just like any other big cities in the world. You should check with the Realtor in Paris before moving there. They have more update info than the rest of us here in the states. |

If money isn't an issue, live in Montmarte.
but remember it's paris, you'll be paying a lot for anything nicer than nothing.
I have a few friends who live in Paris, in flats. I'd be more than happy to ask them about their cost of rent for you. |

Hi Steve,
How fantastic! You'll love it!
I can't help you with the price of houses, and I'm assuming you mean to buy not rent, but there are some great sites online which might offer terrific tips from expats living in Paris.
This is a great site for expats worldwide - I've got the link for you for Paris:
http://paris.angloinfo.com/
You can also sign up for their Forum and ask questions of others like you who have also moved to Paris.
Best of luck with your move and your new life in Paris.
Ciao!
