You might want to do a bit more research (or Googling) on this. Mont St Michel is not a city, simply a rock in the ocean topped by an abbey and surrounded by a few hotels and houses. Check the photos on the official website and you'll see what I mean: http://www.ot-montsaintmichel.com/accueil_gb.htm Don't know of any famous product sold there.

So it can't be compared to any city or town in France. The only other place it has been at times compared to is St Michael's Mount off the south west coast of England, quite a similar place: http://www.stmichaelsmount.co.uk/

EDIT: Unfortunately 'tempofinax' is incorrect about the two products he mentions from Mont St Michel. Neither originate from the island.

Tarte Tatin began as a mistake made by the cook at the Hotel Tatin in the town of Lamotte-Beuvron, and Galettes St Michel are named after the town of St Michel-Chef-Chef in the Loire.

Mt St Michel is definitely not a city. There is a huge abbay on a rock with some streets underneath. There is nothing genuinely famous in terms of products but the famous omelette from La Mère Poulard was created there so they still do it in some restaurants there.

I went there last year and it is one of the most amazing places I've ever been. Besides lots of souvenirs, they sold Calvados (a liqueur). If you are there, the most famous thing they do are omelets. They are huge, and world renowned, and also very expensive. About 25 Euros.

There is a very famous place in Mont Saint-Michel : the hotel-restaurant La Mère Poulard.
You can buy something in the boutique : http://www.mere-poulard.fr/

If I remember correctly, tarte tatin was created by a madame Tatin, who ran an inn on Mont St Michel.

There are also biscuits marketed with the name (Galettes St. Michel) but that is probably only marketing, since the MSM is an abbey built on an island in the Middle Ages.
