I agree with the above location, the 6th arrondissement has everything you are looking for as well as the nearby 5th (Latin Quarter).

Here are more hotels to choose from in all price ranges, but several have rooms under 120 euros/night. All are "hotels de charme" so you are guaranteed a lot of charm and lovely, historic buildings. I take it you're from Britain and not burdened by the exchange rate.

The map shows you where each hotel is, try to stay relatively close to the river. The further away, the more residential and quiet so less night life or street life.

On the left you can narrow down to 2-star hotels if you want cheaper hotels. Also July and August are cheaper than the spring months. Enjoy your weekend in Paris!

Check out Le Copostelle Arr 2-3 on the border of both Arr.'s Great locaton and all the shops are open in that area on Sunday,... slightly gay area but the boutiques are GREAT. U can find the hotel at Expedia.com ith better rates than by calling direct about 115E per night. Right near Rue de Rivoli and Hotel de Ville grat for metro to and from the airport Have Fun! I'm green with envy :-)

My favorite hotel is the HOTEL DE LA CLEMENT it is right in the heart of Paris in the St. Germain district and they have amazing cafe's around the hotel. It has a subway station r1 block away and its almost right on the river.

I agree that the 6th Arr is wonderful.
Last time I went I avoided the over-priced hotels and rented an apartment, and I'll do it every time from now on. Some web sites I've used are:

I went to paris twice. I stayed in a hotel which is nearby Montmartre and anther time I stayed with my friend in Bercy. Those locations are not far from major attractions in Paris. Just find the hotel which is close to the metro. By the way you can try to reach this website

My favorite hotel is the Hotel St. Andre des Arts in the 6th arrondissement. I have been staying there on trips to Paris for over 30 years.

It is a very simple hotel in a building that is more than 300 years old with no elevator or mini-bars or TV. But it is clean and friendly, the ensuite bathrooms are small but very modern (they have all been installed in the last 25 years) and the location is excellant.

The area is filled with restaurants, food shops, cafes, and bars. There is a street market on the next block. The oldest cafe in Paris, the Procope, is around the corner. The bar, Le Mazet, where Jim Morrison had his last drink in public is across the street. The Odeon Metro stop is one block away. Its is a few minutes walk to Notre Dame, the Cluny Museum and the Place St. Michel. The Louvre or the Musee D'Orsay are about a 15 minute stroll. There is constant activity at almost all hours and so it is a very safe location.

It also has the virtue of being inexpensive. A double room with private bath, breakfast included and all taxes is 89 euros for a double and 69 euros for a single.

Google search for an apartment. It's cheaper than a hotel if you can book for a few days to a week.

I love the 3rd and 4th arrondissments- if you are ok with gay culture- these quarters are teeming with cafes, restaurants, shops- all open late... oh and a bunch of patisseries!!

It's a small pension-type hotel next to Luxembourg Gardens and about 10 minutes walk from Notre Dame. I stayed there last summer and loved it. Hardwood floors, sturdy, antique-looking furniture, and balcony overlooking the entrance to the Gardens. There was a free breakfast in the mornings and a private shower in the room (toilet down the hall). The owner speaks very good English, and let us stay one night for free (on an extra mattress in the laundry room) because we showed up at 2am the night before we were supposed to get there. I think I paid 53 euros for a double room. I would highly recommend this hotel.
