Name some nice places to live/work in the South of France?

I am applying for a scheme whereby I work in the South of France (between Perpignan and Nice) in the Travel & Tourism / Hospitality industry for up to 3 months. I have to choose which cities to apply for and am wondering where the nicest places in this region are?
Additional Details
I will be going sometime in the summer...roughly from june to august

Montpellier, Nice, Collioure, Agde, Aix en Provence, Nîmes for instance. Practically anywhere in the South of France is pleasant in the winter. But if you go there in the summer - which is probably the case if you work in the tourism industry - be extra careful when choosing a destination because some of them are so awfully packed that you couldn't even enjoy your time off. It all depends on your tastes. Do you like partying? Then try to apply for Saint-Tropez. Do you like nature? Then avoid the region of Marseille, Toulon, Palavas-les-flots, La-grande-Motte, because all you'll get to see is concrete (there's still the sea, but it's nearly disfigured by the buildings and the factories). Are you still a student in a bohemian state-of-mind? Then definitely choose Aix-en-Provence or Montpellier that are rather big, very beautiful university towns. If you want a peaceful remote place then stay away from the shore and try to find a village or a small town in the Lubéron.
Hope that it helps.

the best is Aix en Provence: not overcrowded as the Cote d'Azur (Cannes, Nice, St Tropez...)

From Perpignan to Nice you have quite a number of interesting places where you would e happy to work in the tourist Industry.
Narbonne is nice and Sete too. though Marseilles has a busy routine and tends to be very busy , the hustle and bustle of the city. If you prefer a quieter life then try to avoid it , go for Aix further in . Again Cannes and Nice being very much frequented they both offer good expectations. Especially in this industry there will be no moment for you to remain inactive especially if you like to meet up with different sorts of people.--from posh to the frequent traveller and of course the daily locals ...
Polish your French if you are not fluent....
Bon sejour!

aix en provence or carry le rouet or gardanne or any nice village you can find

For tourism purposes head to Cannes or Monte-Carlo, that's 5 *
All the rest is amateurism...
