Need Paris information regarding hotel and areas to visit?

Here's the deal. I have 24 hours in Paris. I'm coming in to the De Gaul Airport (I believe something like that) first week of July. I'd like to know what area that is close to the airport I should book a fairly cheap but nice hotel. Any suggestions?

Also, what are the areas that are close by cab or walking distance from hotels that are in a really happening area. remember I dont want to be too far from the airport.
What are the areas that are note-worthy of checking out. I'm into restaurants, lounges, museums, shows, anything unique and distinct to the area. I also enjoy architecture and history which I knw Paris is famous for.

Let me know Parisians or world-travelers!!!!

Thanks

P.S. Any specific places by names would be appreciated and if you do this please explain what was so good about it or the history to it.

Thanks again

Hello-Paris
I agree, close to De Gaulle Airport; there is nothing to see, it's an industrial area.
If you want to see something in Paris for 24 hours, maybe you can book an hotel close to the airport; especially if you take off early the next day.
But you can come downtown in Paris center with a special coach (Air France Bus) which will let you at Arc de Triomphe if you choose the line 2.
From there you can visit many things and you can take the same bus back in the evening.

And from Arc de Triomphe you are just at the top of Champs Elysées where you can have a walk and go down until Louvre, crossing the Tuileries garden.

See on my blog some pictures...Unfortunately, you won't be able to see everything.....but if you see :

- Champs Elysées
- Tuileries
- Pyramide in front of Louvre
- and close to there : garden of Palais Royal
- If you can stay a whole day, in july you can make a tour in "bateau-mouche", a boat which goes along the Seine river, not expensive :

I stayed here: http://www.kyriadprestige.com/en/default.aspx
It's very nice-3 stars-5 minutes from the airport. I booked online and got an online special for only 39 euros a night for two people!

Honestly, anything you want to see in Paris (museums, good resto, shows) will all be in downtown Paris. There is nothing by the airport--it's an industrial zone as the CDG airport is HUGE.

You may want to consider 'leaving' the airport zone, and staying in downtown Paris. I recommend the Hotel Tiquetonne. Cheap, clean, and in a good location.

Names of places: Eiffel Tower, Louvre, walk along the banks of the Seine, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur church/ Montmartre. Sorry history is not my strength, but these are my favorite places in Paris.

There exists a bus tour called L'Open Tour with 4-5 different lines. You buy a day pass (I think 50Euros) and it takes you to all the main sights. You can get off and on as you wish. Very good for a first and very short visit to Paris! Def. worth the money

Sadly that airport is a ways from the city. But i would recommend taking the metro. also i would recommend seeing the Eiffel Tower. Also go to the Musee de Louvre. Mona Lisa is there and boy was that a sight to see! Also go to the Musee De Orsay. All great places! and if your walking along and get caught up in the streets of Paris you might run into something great! Explore!

Hi, I would recommend trying to stay in the Latin Quarter or in the Champs Elysees area. Both are very central and quite nice areas to stay andf with plenty of bars and restauarants and good atmosphere.

Even though you mention near the airport you might as well go the extra few miles and stay centrally!
