Need ideas for gift for French host student?

I am going on a trip to France and will be staying with a host family for part of my visit. I need some gift ideas for my host student, a teenage girl. Any help ASAP would be appreciated!

American clothes would be very much appreciated by a French teenager bc it's very hard to find American clothes in France and those which are available are very expensive. Many French ppl have only 1-2 sweaters so a sweater would be nice (and not too hard to fit). Other ideas: a windbreaker or sweatshirt with your favorite college or pro sports team. Maybe a San Antonio Spurs item-- even French ppl who don't follow NBA basketball know the Spurs bc of Tony Parker who is from France.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
Bring her some clothes. In France, believe it or not, clothes are very expensive to buy there. Try buying her some nice t-shirts. :-)

Hiya,

You should bring with you stuff like M&M Almond, Crispy and Peanut Butter.
Things like Jerky Beef as well.
I think they will appreciate something which came from the state or the place you come from.

I hope it help.

try to get something typical from "your place".

france is a develloped country - they do have twix ;-))

generally, people in france love to discover new things - and that's even more so for young people. so if your state or region has something really special (like food or cloths or whatever), it's likely to be appreciated.

just one thing: in france, people tend to think they have a monopoly on good wine - so don't take any local wine ;-)

enjoy your stay in france!

Since you don't know this girl, I would not take any clothes as present. When I go there I always take jeans for my sister and her husband who prefer american ones but I also know quite a few people who would not ever wear either jeans or t-shirts.

For adults, I usually take a bottle of Jack Daniels. For a teenage girl I would probably take an item of jewelry: pendant, earrings. Indian type of jewelry could be good since most French people love the Indians.

Good luck with the present and enjoy your stay.

ok we do have twix! snickers mars etc etc
What we don t have is oreos. When my aunt from georgia comes to france I always ask her to bring oreos!

Maybe you should also think of her parents and ring them a bottle of californian wine (so they can compare it with french wines)

Freaking weird, me too. Like, same EXACT situation. I'm leaving Monday, and I have no clue. I was thinking like beach-y stuff, because I live on the east coast, & near the ocean. Still can't decide though. Maybe a gift basket of some kind? Welll, if you get any good suggestions, email me because I need some too.

Candy that is not available in France - I don't think they have Twix in France. We had an Austrian student stay with us and she adored Twix. You could always go for a sweatshirt with your states name on it, or professional sports team memorabilia. Even girls like cute sports t-shirts!
Have fun in France!
