Paris.......... Im Not Sure?!!?

Hey everybody, im a 20 year old male from Kent in England.

Ive been taking French lessons for a while now and i would really like to visit Paris. HOWEVER......... i have a couple of things to ask!!

Im really not a party kinda guy who gets drunk all the time!! Ill be alone so ill take a nice bottle of wine or a beer in a quiet little cafe anyday!!

And also......... ive never really done the sightseeing or museum side of things on past holidays. Ive always kinda been a water parks and beach kinda person.

So with that in mind, am i likely to find Paris boring?? Or do you think i would be taken in by the museums and the art and the architecture etc. even though ive never really given it any thought?? I know nobody knows how i feel etc. but im just worried about wasting my money lol, but if you could kinda share any of your positive experiences of Paris maybe i wont have so much doubt!!!

thanks in advance ;-)

Aw Paris is beautiful, Im not a crazy party person myself and i absolutely loved it!! The art and architecture and museums are amazing, my fav place in all of Paris was the Louvre, I think I spent 2 or so hours there, one tiny piece of advice tho, when a guy comes up to you asking where you are from saying 'I studied there, my friend lives there, do you want your picture painted?' get the hell away from him!! Damn con men!! They sketch a crappy picture of you and completely pressure you into buying it for €30!!! Just say NO and keep walking they are like damn vultures!!!!

Paris? Boring? The two words don't go together!! Of course everyone's different but I think you'll like Paris if you go with an open mind. As I'm sure you know, if you go expecting to not like it then there's a good chance you'll have already ruined the trip for yourself.
If you're on your own, it might put a little bit of a downer on things unless you're happier traveling alone, like many are.
Paris can be a bit daunting (espeically for someone like me who lives in a little village!) but if you're fully prepared before you go then you shouldn't run into any problems. Make sure you're comfortable with using the metro and you should be ok. You can't really get lost if you have a metro map and know how to use the metro system. Even if you get stranded somewhere without a map then, just go into the nearest metro stop and there'll be maps on the walls.

I think you should like even just the feel of Paris. I'm not really into museums and the likes but I still love Paris... you can just sit in cafes and watch the world go by, go to the parks... I'd reccommend you visit Montmartre!

Either look up a lot of information on different areas of Paris so you know what kind of thing you'll be getting into or just go and see where the wind takes you! If it really isn't for you then at least you've tried it and can go on to try more southern or rural areas of France to see what you like most.

Paris is a place Ive always wanted to visit. It is filled with so many things and there is something there for everyone!

If you like hanging out on the beach, then you'd probably like wandering around the many parks in Paris. Sitting in cafes people watching can also be entertaining.

I think in August they still pile up sand along the banks of the Seine, so if you happen to go then you'd still be sort of going to the beach. Also, if you like ice skating, in the winter there's an ice rink at the Eiffel Tower and another one in front of the Hotel de Ville.

I would suggest pushing yourself to visit at least a few museums and monuments. Paris being the great city that it is, I'm sure you could find something to interest you. From Kent, you probably could simply make it a long weekend visit instead of a full vacation. That way, if you were bored you wouldn't have wasted a whole week or more.

I love Paris! It is my favorite city in the whole world!
What I recommend is doing a combination of both while you are there.
From experience Europe in general is expensive ( but you are from England and you have Euros so it is better for you) Paris is verrrrrryyyyy expensive though since it is a big city and a huge tourist attraction. Try to find the best deals you can with the little things like food and a hotel because it adds up.
Places you have to go to that are historical are Versailles and the Eiffel Tower ( Versailles is a huge palace with many other sites there, although it is something historical it is extremely fascinating on how the royals lived) and I am guessing you know what the Eiffel tower is.
Other spots I recommend: The Louver, The Arc DE Triomph, and Notre Dame

For other things that are more "this century" you could go to the hot Paris night clubs and famous restaurants ( this is what you want to save your money for ) you could also go to the Moulin Rouge, if you are in to that...

Do a little research online to find what really interests you. I hope I could help (-:
