Paris Attractions?

I will be in Paris for three days. I have little time and want to see the best parts of the city. What attractions should I see?

Sacre Couer early evening just before dusk, (nuns choir 6.00pm) superb view over Paris once the lights are illuminated. From there go straight to the place of the artists, literally round corner from SC, then walk down steps from there to the Pigalle distriict - Moulin Rouge etc. cheap places to eat

Buy a travel card from airport or any station, can be used on rail, metro and buses- far cheaper than open top buses.

Go to Eiffel Tower early morning before crowds and long queues - you can climb the steps to the second floor completely free - then decide whether you want to pay to go up to the top. If you take a lift from the bottom you have to get out and take a second lift to the top. If you do this go straight up to the top and then look around the 2nd floor on your way down, again avoiding longer queue.

From there take bus or metro to Arc de Triumphe and the Eternal Flame (you can go to the top of the A deT if you want) then go either by metro to Place du Concorde - or walk here via Champs De L'Eysee if you have the time. From Place de C walk through the gardens to Le Louvre - you need to take photos outside even if you dont go in - you need at least a day here.

From here walk to The Opera House, well worth a look in the foyer, then just round the corner is La Fayette - the famous departmental store, well worth putting your nose through the door even if you dont like shopping.

From here take the metro to Notre Damme. We went on an hour river trip from here - then straight across the road to the Latin Quarter and loads and loads of places here to eat.

At night there are river cruises which are well worth doing. We only had a couple of days here - hence our tight schedule as above

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did . Bon voyage

Arch De Trioph ( Not Spelt right Im Sure ) Definatly the Tour de Iffel ( Again Spelling sucks ) But the little side streets have the most lovely buildings and culture you just can buy at any tourist attraction . Sitting out side a cafe sipping hot chocolate watching it all go by Gr8 Have FUN

Best sights are...Sacre Coueur,Notre Dame, the Louvre,Arc du Triomphe and not forgetting the Eiffel Tower, you can also get great views from the Tour Montparnasse.
Also take a stroll round the latin quarter (on the left bank)
If you want to take in a show try Moulin Rouge or Paradis Latin.
You can take a hop on hop off tour bus which takes you round all the major sights...Enjoy

You must see St Madelaine Church. It's beautiful and is near by Place de la Concorde

No one so far has mentioned Pont Alexandra III, the most Ornate Bridge in the World. It is wonderful either day or night. (Ok, I haven't seen every bridge in the world but this one is really special!)

Also, the Palace at Versailles is a half an hour train ride. Both the Palace, and the Grounds are incredible! (You need to stay a couple of extra days, you really do!)

The Louvre would give you a bit of an idea of what the Versailles Palace is like since the Louvre was also a Palace.

see pics of the Versailles Fountains below. They only run them on the weekends and I'd bet not during winter months.

You will also be glad to know that it's hard to go wrong in Paris. Even if all you do is go out and wonder around you are going to stumble onto some incredible sights no matter where you walk.

Also, don't be afraid to go into any church. The French Catholics of past centuries spent kings ransoms on churches. Each one I saw was an artistic masterpiece. I never ran into one that was locked, but I will admit I did not try many of them late at night.

If you are going anytime but winter, Luxenbourg Gardens is also a fantastic place. Make sure you walk down the center lane south out of the gardens. There is a half mile long row of orneation to see there. (See Link)

Note that there are over 500 pics of Paris on this site. If you have questions about any of them just put the question in yours above, or if you wish to contact me and if you allow email just suggest so above and I will email you.
