dinner at eiffel tower and walk all the way to the louvre... take that kind of walk like you're walking on the moon... not a frolic walk but sort of... |

Simply walk and allow the city to embrace you. Perhaps in the Marais Neighborhood. |

Just one day? So, walk, walk and walk again. Paris will do all for you. |

Ok, Paris is a fantastic city and is small for a capital. I'd take a bateau mouche (a tourist boat along the Seine), where you can see most of the attractions. Start at the Eiffel Tower end, as not all boats go that far. After that, I'd stroll around the Ile de la Cite area as it's one of the most picturesque parts of Paris. And then I'd probably spend the evening around Bastille, which has good night life. Other areas good for night-life include Montparnasse (a bit to the south though), and the Champs-Elysees is impressive at night. But a must is the Eiffel Tower at the hour (it sparkles at every hour for ten minutes until 2).
Montmartre is nice, but incredibly touristy, and you should avoid the Moulin Rouge at night since it's in the red-light district of Pigalle which can be very seedy, and not sensible for a female if you're travelling alone.
Buy a day ticket for the metro. That's the easiest way to get around. But if you want more unusual things, you can do a tour of Paris on funny motorised scooter thingies (you'd have to research that though) or open-top red buses a la London.
For a typically French restaurant (which is open all night but closed during the day), I recommend Poule au Pot near Les Halles underground shopping centre (opposite the big church, St-Eustache). Massive servings, reasonable price. |

Unless you're expecting to see specific tourist attractions, I find it most appealing to just casually explore the city yourself and enlighten yourself to different cultures. Hope you have fun. |

As many people have suggested, if you've already visited the main attractions then just enjoy Paris by wandering around. Personally I like to buy a pack of 10 bus tickets and just take random buses and I get off whenever I see something interesting. You could also consider using the new bike service, Vélib, which starts on the 15th July. You can sign up for 1 day at any of the stations (all over Paris). The bikes are free for 30 minutes and cost €1 for the second 30 minutes.

I would take one area like the latin quarter and explore it fully. Spend time in the cafes, around the seine, visit Notre Dame and get to feel what it's really like to live there. If you wanted to stay the night there's a good site for accommodation http://www.holiday-velvet.com/paris |

I agree with everyone. walk around and explore.
but it might be nice to pick a smaller museum to visit. Perhaps the Picasso or the Rodin.
and like someone else said, a boat trip down the Seine is very relaxing if you feel like your too tired to walk around. |

Taking a tour bus (many have English language tours) that cover the whole city in a few hours or less will let you see the city. You can then decide which attraction you want to spend more time with. The Eifel Tower though it's kinda a cliche' is a modern marvel and worth a look. I cannot imagine that at the time it was built, some ppl objected to it. |

You can take one of those buses they have for the tourists, it gives you an idea of where are some of the best attractions, then walk in the city and go the "The Moulin Rouge" at night, or "Lido", etc... |
