hello xo :]

Paris,france?

hi everyone, i really would love to go to Paris next year, but my parents are reluctant to the idea. I been talking to them about it, looking up hotels, and places to go(not just the eiffel tower) and saving a lot of my money. I have been taking french for almost 4 years, and im not fluent but i do know the usual words, and how to order foods..etc.. Anyways, do you have any catchy ways to make them think about going to France?

P.S. I know its expensive, but i have been saving.

Hello-Paris
Tell your parents it's always good to practice a foreign language in the country where it's spoken.

Of course, it's also worth seing Paris. There are many well-known museums and beautiful gardens and buildings in Paris and very cool places to eat well.

As said my friend american friend Rifilan, in Paris, you can seat cool in a "Café" drinking something and stay 1 or 2 hours, and nobody will tell you have to go away because other customers are arriving....of course some people run as in every great towns, but less than in American towns.

Don't trust people who tell there are important problems of security. You have to pay attention but Paris center is a generally a safe town.

Unfortunately some stupid French don't like foreign people, but not all of us....fortunately. There are also kind people in France !

About money, you can spend one week in Paris and not spend too much...you are not obliged to live in a 4-star hotel and eat in great restaurants every day. There also cheap ways to eat and good hotels at moderate prices. The museum entries are not very expensive.....Nevertheless, it's always more expensive to travel than to stay at home !
Do you know the possibility to exchange your home with french people for a short while...some friends of mine are doing that !

If you are young, you may want to consider traveling with a group. Consider researching a travel organization that is geared towards young people.

I don't really know what to say to you...I never had to ask my parents to go to Paris, I'm 26 and I live in Paris...Why they don't want to go here (or there)? Where do you live in the States?

A famous good hotel (and not expensive) is L'hotel Jeanne D'Arc in the Marais area. Nice place.

Just be on your best behavior and prove to them that you're responsible. Don't make them think that they'll have to worry about you over there. You didn't say...how old are you? Are you going alone? Is it a feild trip? If it is, talk to the parents of your friends and have them talk to your parents. Good luck. I've been to Paris before, you'll love it!

Are you planing to go by yourself. Well, I have been to France many times and I think Paris is a pretty safe city. Just be careful with pickpocket. I think it would be a great opportunity for you to meet people and discover a new culture. Why don't you tell them that is the only way to perfection your French. Bonne chance.

Francoise
Tell them since you've been learning French for 4 years, it's time you put it into practise. Going to France is a good chance to put what you learn into use.
But be careful, the crime rate in France is very high, especially Paris. There is a gang of professional pickpocket working constantly in the Metro. Drug dealing and using is also a serious problem there. Most decent people moved away from Paris, all that left there are foreigners and illegal immigrants or those who can't afford to move away. My family had lived 20 years in Paris but we finally moved to the south.
