Paris in January? good Idea or not?

Hi, is it a good idea to visit Paris this January for a weekend or not. Is it still romantic or dark and cold. Also any activities you may recommend for a couple
thanks

No, don't bother. No girls in little skirts, no beers outside, all the dog turds on the sidewalk covered up by the leaves that they didn't take away in fall...and it's cold and wet. The only reason to come to Paris in January is that you haven't made that mistake before and don't want to listen to people who have.

It's always worth a trip to Paris, no matter the time of year.

I've been in the winter and spring, both completely different experiences and reccommend either season.

All the outdoor stuff is still good to do- just layer clothing on to stay warm with a hat, scarf, and gloves. All the indoor stuff like shopping and museums are open- just a word of warning that I found everything extremely warm inside which is where the layering of clothing helps.

The Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame are all still a must in the winter. I might skip the cruise along the Seine in winter (if it even operates in January). For something unusual, visit the paris catacombs underneath the city. It is dark and cold, but not at all unbearable or miserable. There's also lots of night tours by private car or bus of the lights.
