The most informative for information is the official City Tourism Site for Paris. Plenty of links there. It's all about the French capital: hotels, museums, monuments, going out, events, bistros, restaurants, shopping, sightseeing and much more.

Then for an accommodation directory and deals there's a few others.

The tips you're getting and the research you've undoubtedly already done will surely lead to your visiting the major sites of that beautiful city. I would only add, unless you're only there for a short time, that you might want to consider day trips to places within easy reach by train, such as the Château de Versailles and the Château de Fontainebleau:
http://www.chateauversailles.fr/en/
http://en.chateaudefontainebleau.net/ Not the official site, but the official site (http://www.musee-chateau-fontainebleau.fr/) doesn't appear to have non-French versions, surprisingly enough...
