I've been to both places and love them in different ways. It's difficult to compare two beautiful places of diferent continent and completely different culture.

HK is a modern city, with all those sky high and beautiful modern architecture. Like other big cities, it is crowded, there's traffic but the public transport (mtr) is good. Shopping in this city is really fantastic. You just have to be careful with the shopping attendants at the night market because they tend to become very pushy.

People by nature are a little bit aloof. When you try to approach them and ask for directions, they just go away! So that's why some people may see them as rude (but actually they are shy or dont know how to speak English.)

On places to see, the city itself can be toured in one day. One interesting point is hte Victoria peak, where you will see the whole city from the mountain area and that's one breathtaking view!
If you love nature, the islands are more suitable for you. There are much more to do and see in the islands.

Food. If you are adventurous enough, you should try to go in one of the restaurants that you see on the side streets with those ducks hanging...

On the other hand, Paris is Paris!
It is such a lovely city! It has the landmarks that evryone would love to see. From Eiffel Tower to George Pompidou Museum...to the street cafes...you wouldnt want to miss.

I say...go to either one now and save up some money to go to the other one for your next trip.

Goodluck and have fun!

I live near Hong Kong and totally love it there the site and different cultures there interesting to see how they combine it's just depends on what you are looking for.

errr.........
Hong kong would be better as i have experienced both places before the food in hong kong is great it also has REALLY good prices cheap things for eg. a keyboard would cost no more than 160HKD thats like $25 bucks! you will not feel lonely as there are hundreds of people there and there really friendly the locals

hope this helps

These 2 countries are world's apart... I would go Paris and indulge in the romantic city... sit by the river for a cup of coffee and read a book... visit the museum etc. There are so many things there and u will not feel lonely even if u are alone!

Hong Kong. The culture and beliefs are so different. It would be an eye-opening experience.

If you're from a western country, i would highly recommend Hong Kong. But it does depend on what you're looking for. If you're the adventurous type, looking for different cultures, yet still hanging on to your fine dining, then Hong Kong is for you. As I see it, Hong Kong is a place of extremes. You can experience the finest hotels in blissful air conditioning one day, then eat some deep fried, foods at a roadside food stand (so unhealthy yet so gooood).

But if you are looking to take a break from crowds and city-life, STAY AWAY from hong kong!

ZaZaZoom
been to both last year. prefer paris. people are more civilised and not rude like people in hong kong. there is more to see in paris. hong kong is too packed and busy. clothes shopping is good at both places but hong kong tops with mobile phones, computers and other gadgets.
