It is in the Latin Quarter where you will find the cheapes hotel rooms, I got one for 55 euros per night

I recently stayed at Hotel des Allies. It is in the Latin Quarter, so its relatively quiet, not crawling with too many tourists and quite safe. The hotel didn't have many 'frills' but it was an amazing price and the location was great. I've also stayed at the Hotel Sainte Marie, in the 2nd Ar.. It was pretty good too, but the price at Hotel des Allies was much better and I preferred the neighborhood. You could also look at the website: www.hostelworld.com... they have more than just hostels and its where i found the Hotel des Allies. Just be careful of the neighborhoods if you want to stay really safe.

Preferably stay in the Latin Quarter, St-Germain des Prés or Marais districts. But anything central really will be fine.

Personally I have stayed twice at the following place. Although not centrally located it is within convenient access to the métro, it is cheap (38 €/night in a single room) and clean and breakfast is included in the price. http://www.cisp.fr/cisp/index.asp?ln=us

Check out www.hotelresidencedupalais.com

I stayed there and paid 53 euros for a double room with a balcony overlooking Luxembourg Gardens and a private shower. The place is clean, close to Luxembourg Gardens and Notre Dame, and has an elevator and free breakfast. The guy who runs it speaks decent English and is very helpful. If I went back to Paris, I would definately stay there again.
