Paris is the most visited tourist city in the world and also on of the ten most expensive cities so your price range for four people is really quite low.
The only places I can suggest, other than a hostel, are
1. Hôtel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arrondissment, They have no internet presence so you have to call or fax for a reservation(Phone: 01-42-36-94-58 Fax: 01-42-36-02-94). They have doubles for 50 euros a night.
2. Hôtel des Alliés at 20 rue Berthollet in the 5th. They have doubles from 40-55 euros. http://www.alliesparishotel.com/ |

We stayed on the Rue de Ecoles, on the left bank, walking distance to everything. The hotel is not fancy, but does the job.

I was going to suggest that you use Priceline but since you mentioned four people, you will need to get a quad room. They are plentiful in Paris and are not like suites. They are simply rooms with four beds.
Just type in hotel paris quad in Google.
Better yet, throw in the words "St. Michel" too. That's the part of Paris where most people like to stay.. next to the Seine River. I do expect most quads to cost 90 to 100 per night. That's about $120 a night. |
