YOU SUCK DONKEY BALLS

Reasons not to go to france for vacation?

I'm trying to convince my girlfriend we should not go to france for an upcoming vacation.

Reasons I can come up with:

France is stupid.
French people suck.

However I need something more constructive than the above to form a persuasive argument against going to france.

If all else fails the:

I am paying for the vacation so we will go where I choose...

Card will have come in to play.

-or-

Else I will be forced to lay the smack down.

I understand you totally. Don't we all hate it when our women have this weird sympathy towards the French, just because they are French? A good reason for you not to go to France is the exchange rate of Euro (their currency) against the US Dollar (assuming that you reside here in the US) is at near all time high. Second, France, especially Paris is a ridiculously expensive place. If you're paying with US$, then it's even worse, because of the weak US$ against the Euro. Another good reason not to go to France is that, those guys really don't like Americans, they certainly won't bend backwards to be helpful and they won't give you directions in English, even if they are fluent in English.

In response to the "enlightened" girl below:

I have been to Paris and all over France on several occasions. Thus, I think I have some credibility here. French people in general are very unfriendly and racist people. They especially don't like Americans and other english speakers. I have also lived in other europeen countries and traveled extensively. I came to this conclusion by having compared the French to other Europeen people and from talking to other fellow travellers. The vast majority of American's notice these things and the French make sure we notice their hostility and arrogance. You may have been so extatic on your short trip to Paris that you may have missed all the signs.

In response to all the French and French sympathisers, which we have piled on this question in abundance.

Look at your answers! We in the US are burger eating uncultured football watching idiots? Few of you actually revealed you true attidute towards the Americans. That's exactly how they see Americans! When they are here in the US, they have that sarcastic smirk on their faces, but they don't say it out loud. But if you go into their territory, they make sure that you understand that you are a "burger eating, football watching, uncultured, ignorant, fat American" that can't see the "obvious superiority" of the Great and Beautiful French people. At every opportunity, they will mention that the French have the best or most beautiful: wine, cheese, culture and language, history, social model, and bullshit like that. What about Yahoo and Google? Do you have anything close to it? Quaero? Quaero is you stupid government's subsidised program specifically to try to halt Google and Yahoo, specifically to prevent you, silly French guys from hanging out here in Yahoo. Obviously they are not too successful. What about Microsoft, HewlettPackard, IBM, and Apple? What about Wall Street and the financial system that we have here? Do you have anything close to that? Ah, yeah.....but you have the best wine, culture and history. Well, we have the best scientists, best legal system, best burger, best movies, etc. You have a great past, but we have the best future you arrogant dickheads!

Ask her why she would want to travel with someone as immature as you are and it might open her eyes.

Hi, I'm French, was born and live in France.

Sure, we suck and are stupid. Sure, we're arrogant and racist. But believe me, there's a place here in France where people are gentle, smiling, speak english & love the US & the US people.
Of course this place is a little bit expensive (we don't have any influence on the exchange rate), but so beautiful, so magic, so clean, filled with trees, squirrels, flowers, and music everywhere you go.

Spend a week at Disneyland Paris, a stupid country for stupid people.

?
Tell her that you should not go because people there will speak French and not English. These buggers never learn to speak English properly, shame on them! Imagine, they live in France and dare to speak French.
Then, there will be no familiar beer and hamburgers. Then, you will be expected to go to places called "museums", and stare at old pictures which you understand nothing about.
Then, as you are going on a budget, you will have to stay in a budget hotel, about a hundred US a day, and that would be really bad.
As neither of you love culture, statues, paintings, and old houses, and ancient furniture, you will have nothing to do there all the day long. In the evening you can venture to a bar, but no one would talk to you, and the drinks would be different, and everything different to an American means bad.
And they will expect you to eat with knives and forks, not with your hands.
You can't even enjoy shopping as you have got no money enough, plus you wear jeans and T-shorts all the time anyway.
So, you will be bored there. Better go to Orlando, visit Disneyland and then stay in the hotel, inside, with air conditioner and watch TV. It would be much more pleasanter.

Having been to France a few times even post 9/11, I can say that it is a beautiful country and I found everyone to be friendly even in Paris to myself and my Australian friends.

Parisians did not wait to "test us" to see if we spoke French before offering directions or assistance, but gladly volunteered.

But everyone is right, your GF should find someone else to take her on this trip....

Everyone else is crazy...but me!

As Brice said, we have plenty of tourists coming to France anyway. So, if you think that French people suck, please stay away : we just don't need you around.
Your girl will come when she's found a less pathetic boyfriend (very soon I hope).

This is kind of answering your question since if you go to France you will most likely not only go to Paris, but also stay in Paris:

As a responce to those people who say French people don't like Americans. It's more like Parisians don't like anyone other than fellow Parisians (and even that can be debatable). They won't bend over backwards for anybody, no matter what language they speak fluently.

RunAmok
Crime in Paris is rampant and as more and more Middle Easterners arrive, it is becoming more so. The people generally hate Americans (except for our money) and will avoid dealing with you if possible.

Tiffany
Find someplace in the middle that you both want to go. Like if you both like the beach or something like that. You could always try a tour of Europe where you aren't just going to France. She'll be happy she went and you can be happy that's not the only place you're going.
Maybe you could do a cruise somewhere. If she doesn't want to let go of the France thing maybe you can start out there and then take a cruise someplace around Europe.
Try to compromise.

Why do you believe that France sucks? I lived outside of Paris many years ago and it was an unbelieveable experience. I have also traveled the world extensively. I find that arrogant Americans, like yourself, will never be welcome in places of culture because you suck!

1) Good food is wasted on Americans
2) French wine is equally wasted on Americans
3) Americans have no culture therefore why bother with France's?
4) Stunning places like the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and Versailles are boring to Americans.

And finally, your boyfriend is the type who would rather go to Baltimore and he doesn't want you to come home more cultured than he is and possibly even able to speak a few words of ...AAACK.... French!

Like other countries we don't need tourists who are not interested in the country they're going to. Stupid people can stay home. Curious people who want to discover a new culture are welcomed.

France is the first destination in the world without the two of you it won't make any difference.

Do you know what really sucks in France?

..... Stupid, narrow-minded tourists like you!

luca
Tell her to stay in your stupid country with yours stupids citizens going to eat hamburgers and driking beer all the day and watching a stupid football game.

But the better thing is to tell your girlfriend to come alone in France. I am sure a french man will take care of her. She will understand she is with a real stupid guy.
