Is it the facilities that attract you to Eurocamp? If not, I'd suggest you rent a gite, which is a house usually in a rural area. Gite de France have some fantatstic properties and are usually pretty cheap (especially if you go through the owner directly). If you're not very confident in French, there is a very good broker at:

Ask for Philomena and tell her what you want and she will find it for you. We stayed in a house an hour outside Paris this year - living room, kitchen/ diner, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fab garden, all for £280 a week in August! You will pay more for a place with a pool or near a beach, but then it's yours! Brittany is great for kids - loads to do, brilliant beaches and they are free, unlike in the south (we paid 40 euros for a day on the beach last year in Frejus) Also, you don't pay for the motorways in Brittany.

Hope you have a great holiday - France rocks.

We have been on a Eurocamp holiday twice with daughter, son in law and four grandchildren, Raguenes les deux Fontaines, in Brittany - lovely beaches, cliff walks, great campsite and swimming pool. The children (aged 2 to 9) adore it; very clean and laid back - not a lot of night life. We've always been in tents, which are great, but they have mobile homes too. About a couple of hours from the ferry at Roscoff, and there are loads more Eurocamp sites in the area. We've always been in June and had great weather, but imagine it can get very busy in school holidays.

As a child I went on many family Eurocamp-style holidays to France, mainly around the south-west - in Acquitaine, right down near the Spanish border. It's a lovely area, not too touristy, with miles of sandy beaches bordered by fantastic pine forests - the campsites were right in the forests. And just a few miles inland there are several fresh-water lakes. It's quite a long drive from England but you can always split it with a hotel stay in the middle.

Hi

Best to go to the Med area to be sure of the weather.

Languedoc is quieter & cheaper than Cote d'Azur. It is a long one day drive. Calais to Languedoc is about 1000 kms, all motorway.

Eurocamp have 12 sites in Languedoc : http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=campsites.regionmap&ver=1&regionid=22&mapID=15&regionname=Campsites-Languedoc-and-Roussillon

Information about Languedoc : http://www.the-languedoc-page.com
