I stayed at the Residence du Palais, across the street from Jardin du Luxembourg for 10 days this past September. They have singles, doubles, and triples. Each room has its own shower, but toilets are shared unless you happen to get the room I had (#22).

I also stayed at Touring Hotel Magendie in the 13th for two weeks several years ago. The rooms were small, but each room had a complete bathroom to itself.
On another trip, I stayed for four nights at Appart Valley hotel near Gare d'Austerlitz. Of these three, it was my least favorite because my room only had a sofa bed, which I didn't find to be that comfy.
On two other trips I rented an apartment for the 10 days I was there.

We're going in April, and we will be staying at the Hotel Riviera for 89 euros a night for a double. Have never stayed there, it got decent reviews.
We have also stayed at the Village Hostel (24 euro per person in dorm setup, not fancy, but friendly & clean.) Also we've stayed at the Hotel du Dragon (great location, not a very fancy hotel) and the Hotel de Turenne (very close to Eiffel Tower, basic but nice, friendly and clean.)

You're going to need to search the areas a bit outside of Paris... b/c within the city are pretty expensive... But you might get lucky. I would recommend checking out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites, and save money. Good luck!
