Should I convert my dollar to euro here in the states, or wait till I get to a bank in France? |

I recommend that you change it here in the States. With whatever bank you are with, they will, of course, charge you for the converting of dollars into euros. But if you choose to convert your money in France, there's an even more expensive charge for converting. I think its best you have your money exchange in the states, for a lesser charge.
* Off subject, butI hope you'll have fun, wherever you may be in France! Im going this month too, and Im so excited.. France is the most beautiful country I've ever been to! :) |

I suggest , if you are going to Paris first, that you can change your money at Pigalle ,( metro station Pigalle.) an area in Paris where they have the most competitive rate cause there are lots of Bureau de change along the road. |

It's much simpler to use a Visa or Mastercard debit card, and withdraw money from ATMs. Lot less fuss than trying to find somewhere to convert cash. Just make sure you have a 4 digit PIN, notify your bank before travelling, and suggest you take a duplicate card just in case one gets swallowed up by the machine. Use a credit card for large purchases and to pay hotel bills.
I've travelled to Europe several times and always use the ATM to get cash. |

do it in the states. A bank that you have been with for a while will give you a pretty good deal normally. |
