Should we move back to France or stay in the US?

This is a call to all people who have lived in both countries, France and America. We currently live in the US but I miss France. We moved to the US from France in 2002. I have 2 kids (5 and 1) and all my family is in France. I want my kids to grow up seeing their grandparents more than just for X-mas and the summer. Life is good in the US, but I have this irrestible urge to go back to France. My husband experienced the French way of life already and he liked it. I think he would enjoy going back there. But would it be a terrible mistake. Would we all adjust to the changes? Is living in France more complicated than in the US now, finding a job, a house, etc?
I am torn between wanting to make this decision and concerned about putting the whole family through this just to fulfill my personal dream.

Does anyone have a similar situation? How did you deal with it? What did you decide to do?
I would appreciate any feedback.

Have a great weekend!

I have dual citizenship, British and American, so I can live anywhere in the EU or in the States. I choose the USA.

I truly adore Paris and thought of living there when I retired 9 years ago (at age 50). But then I got practical and carefully researched and thought it thru.

I really fear that Europe has some very difficult problems to face that it may not be able to solve.

Consider the growing Muslim population in France which is disaffected, angry, and violent.

Consider the high unemployment generally (9.7%) and among young people in particular (20%+).

Consider the difficulties that will arise from such a small country (France is barely half the size of Texas) trying to deal with the effects of everything from global warming to energy shortages (France has no petroleum) to continuing international unrest.

Of course there are many, many countries in the world with worse problems than any country in Europe but in the long run its difficult to imagine that France would have a better future than the United States.

Indeed, there are few countries anywhere that have a bright future. The United States, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia are just about the only ones in my opinion. I certainly hope that I am wrong about that but I wouldn't risk my future on it and I definitely wouldn't risk my children's future on it.

I am french and have been living in the usa arizona for 3 years, and I was home sick for 2 years since I traveled to france in november! I found it dirty, small spaces to live, small spaces to drive,, sad people, the only thing I appreciated was food! After 5 days I wanted to go back and was so happy to go home in Arizona!

Go back to France you now it's so much better.
I was traised there. And i've been in the states now for 6 years. And I hate it. I hate the people. They are so judgmental and rude.
jme sens plus alaise around les francais!! I don;t know...But yeah. I miss it so much. mY friends, the food, the people and just being there. But I left france when i was 16. I want to move back. But i don't quite remember how the system goes, All i remember that I was really lazy! hahaha you wouldn;t have trouble finding a house I can tell you that. A job. Maybe in time. I mean I would live in France and come back to the us. Like every 3 or 6 months. And stay for about a month. It gets complicated living here too sometimes. But since your parents are they. I think that you should be clsoe to your familly personally. You won;t regret it..Your're kids are still young.

I thhank my mom for raising me in France and not here hehehe. I was born in the US. But when I was 2 years old I moved to sweden. Lived there for 5 years and Lived in France for 9. And I consider France my home!!! It was a great experience. When I came to the states I felt really out of place. (I still do)
It makes me cry.

I really want to go back. But I want to get my life together, financially, in the US first before moving back out there.
I feel really out of place here sometimes. And plus i'm starting loos my french. I do have french friends out here. Thats the closets I can get to home. And it feels good.

I'm going to go back to France for the first time in september. I can;t wait!!so exited. And I'm considering moving there for good the 2nd time I go. And go to the university there.
i was raised in Caen, Normandie. (la campagne ouai je sais.lol)
But there's not place like home...Go where your heart is.

schiphol

I think you're homesick.

Is it possible you can do video chat with your family over in France? You can write them, e-mail them.

As in response to your question, do what you think is best. I can't say go back to France because I have not been to France yet! :)
