france! i studied there, and i still live there
It's quite hard in high school, but it's rly good and not very expensive at all
they're very nice, and very comprehensible about everything

I'm a french student. I you want to come and study in France don't forget than Paris is only one city in France...
There is many other student city in France like Strasbourg, Lyon, Bordeau, Grenonble. The life is cheaper than in Paris.
The university is free in France you have only to pay the administrative costs.
For the accomodation, you may ask for have a flat in a hall of residence to the CROUS.
For eating we have some university restaurant (very cheap almost 2.75â‚¬ for a meal)

There are a number of commercial and not-for-profit programs for studying in France. Check out websites such as intraxstudyabroad, mystudyadvisor, and twoworldsunited.

With the commercial programs you have a say in where you are going. I would go to Strasbourg to study and Paris to shop/sightsee.

A not-for-profit program, such as the Rotary International Student Exchange, is another option, less expensive, and well organized. However, it can be very competitive to get selected for their programs (you get in by merit, you can't buy your way into the program) and the organization (as in Rotary) may have the final say in what country and city you end up studying in.

For Rotary you contact your local club.

All the high school programs I know of have a flat rate, at least by country, and sort of work it out from there...I would send the student to Paris, because, well, itÂ´s Paris, after all.

I've lived in both cities and Paris can be big and there are too many foreigners, in my opinion, to really have contact with French people. In Alsace, the second language is German, not French so there would be more opportunities to actually use French. The only drawback is that there is a strong Alsatian accent.

We could actually choose our classes and since it was on the campus of a French university, we met French students right there.

The Loire Valley has no accent. It's considered the region where "standard French" is spoken. It's also, culturally very French, as opposed to Germanic Strasbourg.

Most of the students who choose to study in Strasbourg were doing joint French-German degrees. It's good for that.

Whatever program you choose, here are some criteria;
-Sign up directly. This will save you major money and mean that you wont be "clumped" with a bunch of other foreign students.
-Don't be duped into signing up with an American university. They'll say "Oh, but you'll get CREDIT for your studies". Who cares? Check with your own university and ask directly if they wont at least give you subject credit, if not full credit for your studies. You can point out that Universities X, Y & Z do and that you don't want to go with their program.
-Pick a language program on a university program, not an isolated language school where you'll only meet other foreigners.
-Make sure you can pick and choose your subjects and aren't just slotted into a level where the program is already sortedout for you. I did have to take a required course in the morning but I also took Business French and Translation, which were very useful.

CIDEF actually arranged housing for me with a local French family so all I had to do was arrange transport to Angers.
