Any day is a good day to be a tourist in Paris!
I would recommend touring on a Monday though. Most museums (except for the Musee d'Orsay, Rodin Museum, Napoleon's tomb at Invalides and Versailles, to name a few) are closed on Tuesdays.
If you're wanting to take a quick break for lunch while exploring the Louvre, they have a fabulous food court, offering a plethora of different cuisines to whet your appetite. Otherwise, directly across the street on Rue de Rivoli, there are many charming cafes, brasseries and restaurants, even a McDonalds. Incidentally, I've found some of the best souvenir bargains on Rue de Rivoli. Don't be afraid to comparison shop...you can find miniature Eiffel Towers or 15 postcards, each for 1 Euro.
Weekends are usually crowded (even more so than usual), so I'd say go on a Monday. Be sure to arrive at the Louvre when it first opens. Beat the rush! |

Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month. So that will be a doubly crowded day. |

If you are wondering whether Sunday or Monday might be a better day to go there and you are planning on visiting The Louvre or any other museums, I would say that Sunday would be the better day of the two to visit Paris. A lot of museums in Europe are closed on Mondays; therefore you would miss out on the museums. Admission to museums and some other attractions, on the other hand, often is free on Sundays because Sunday is not treated as a business day in some countries.
You would be advised to check out this information in a tourist guide book such as "Let's Go to Europe', 'Let's Go to France' or a Fodor's guide. The 'Let's Go!' series should give you this information. A travel agent also might be able to help. The situation might change. |

Sometimes attractions are closed on Sunday. Less traffic for the outdoor sights, but if you want inside, Monday is best. |

You might want to see some local life so I would say Monday, shops are open. On Sunday some areas are just empty of life except for tourists and tourist shops. Monday still sees a lot of closed shops (they open on Saturday so they have to give their employees Monday off so they can enjoy a 2 days weekend) but you will have more local life. |

Monday is probably a little better. Parisians will be at work or school, so there will be a few less people. |

Monday will be quiet - and I forgoooot .....let's see....mmmmmmm I think that museums are free on each first monday in the month -
Thank you Paddington............
Spanner : I read your contribution - it is absolutely empty and brings nothing - and your downthumb has sad features -
French museums are close on tuesdays - and sundays in french museums, mainly Le Louvre, by which I've been working or 30 years already, are exhausting -
Next please !!!.............. |
