There must be ONE available hotel room in paris surely?

I have called about 50 hotels in paris and cannot find a single one available for Weds 17th May. Can the whole city be fully booked?
Additional Details
Come on its not really feasible to just turn up there. And so many hotels are never fully booked. People hold rooms.

Call the Automobile Club of America's travel services. They found me a hotel in the Opera district in less than one day when Paris only had dive rooms available. Just in case you want to know, it was a reasonably priced, very nice room at the Holiday Inn. Nicest one I ever stayed at, included breakfast, had a wonderful restaurant on site but being in the Opera district had great bistros nearby. Taxi service to the area is great, lots of things to walk to and some great places to shop.

I'm not really sure how likely it is for Paris hotels to be booked full. I've never waited until this close to book a hotel room there.

The only thing I can suggest is to go to a travel agent. They may be able to look for more hotels and find availibility. I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting till you get there, you wouldn't want have to no room.

But I suppose it could be possible. Your dates are pretty close. The only thing I can tell you is try more hotels or contact a travel agent.

Have you tried contacting your airline? Not my tip, but someone else on Yahoo Answers called Air France and they sorted out a room for her. You also don't mention your budget: I found the Hotel Renoir on lastminute.com for 17th May.

Yes, I've heard that too, and it might just be true. There's the European Cup final on the 17th May, here in Paris. And then there's another match for another cup France-Mexico also within the next days. Try the suburban areas, or the nearest cities.
Maybe thursday will be better, since the match is on wednesday, most people leave on thursday morning.

Have you tried some of the Hostels in Paris, you can book a bed or a room. They can be easier to work with at times. Sometimes there are people at the train stations renting out their rooms, but you can't count on that. Have you tried a major Hotel or motel chain in France? There may be something there.

Yes it is possible....it is summer time......If Las Vegas can have 150,000 rooms and is fully booked at times. You should still be able to go there and look for rooms in nearby cities or go for guest house....check with local travel agents when you arrive at the airport or tourist info centre
