Things to do near the Eiffel tower? Help?!?!?

I'm taking my girlfriend for a day trip in Paris. I want to know what the best things things and places are around the Eiffel Tower. Including a good value, nice restaurant that serves good food. Thanks a lot.

Take a boat ride on the river you can get one close by the Eiffel tower, when you visit a restaurant thy all offer a menu which is a set meal of either two or thee courses and sometimes with wine usually good value.Paris like any other big city is expensive anyway and small bistros offer the best value where the locals eat. Buy a metro pass for the day which will include bus travel and 10% discount on a boat trip from Pont neuf not far from Notre Dame. If you like art galleries then there are plenty to choose from learn to use the metro and you can get around quickly.
Learn a few basic french phrases as not many people speak english. enjoy PS get to the tower early as the queues can be long.

Half a mile east of the Eifel Tower is Rue Cler. It's a (mostly) pedestrian street with a lot of the quaint shops that Paris is famous for. I really like, Le Roussillon, a brasserie on the corner Rue de Grenelle and Rue Cler.

1 rule-don't drive, walk!
Paris is simply the most beautiful city and when you drive a car around you miss out on all the little stuff. So, take a walk to the Eiffel Tower. Before you actually go there, there are some carts in the park. Grab a sandwich. They're amazing! Sit on a bench and eat it. Or walk around, it's all so pretty! Or...if you don't want to do that. You can also stop by a near restaurant, grab a bit to eat and a drink. And as it gets dark take your trip to the top of the Tower.

:)
