To all those travellers and romantics, I am going to Paris to propose to my girlfriend in January.?

And I am looking for a really nice restaurant to take her to afterwards. Any ideas? I am ideally looking for somewhere along the river with a budget of up to 300 euros, or £250. I would be grateful for any advice as I want this to be really special. Thanks

I need to find a really great restuarant to take her to after I have proposed, something fancy and quite expensive where we can celebrate our love afterwards.
looking to spend upwards of 250 euros or £200. I welcome your thoughts.

Ah, yes. This is the stuff of life you speak of . . . love and romance, and in Paris, no less! I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of it.

This is my recommendation: For the 'pre-proposal' dinner, I'd take a stroll down the Quartier Latin on Boulevard St. Germain. This is easily the most romantic district in Paris, and it would be perfection itself if you found a small, unassuming bistro or brasserie -- one that speaks to you both -- and popped the question there. I've been to Paris many times and eaten at all the top-notch restaurants, but virtually all of my fondest memories come from places that were discovered accidentally. This way, the place you find will truly be 'your own' and nobody else's. You can revisit the momentous event of your proposal every five years or so . . . what a wonderful tradition!

To celebrate her acceptance, make a reservation NOW for Taillevent, which is quite possibly the best restaurant in the universe. The food is heavenly, the location superb (right of the Champs Elysee near the L'Arc du Triomphe); and if you tell them you're celebrating your love together . . . well, let's just say the good people at Taillevent will make sure your evening is one you'll remember for the rest of your life.

Congratulations and enjoy your trip!

i am from paris and i would advise u to book a table on a boat the goes on the river. it is quiet, posh but not too much and not old fashioned. very romantic. then there is a very posh restaurant on the champs elysee but i wouldnt advise to propose there. go for the river. then there are amazing walks and u can go close to the effeil tower. it sparkles every 30 minutes.

Pls forget the "Eiffel Tower" Restaurants for your special purpose because they are tourist traps and you won't have a real romantic time but a rip-off!!!
Propose with a bottle on the Eiffel Tower and take her back to your Hotel where you 2 have an intimate candle-light diner, flowers all over etc. (has to to pre-ordered,of course)...

Sam
May God bless you with success and happiness!

I have no idea where you could take her since I've never been to Paris, but I'd suggest you take her to a nice restaurant first and propose after. Make sure she's not hungry or else, she'd say no.. j/k.

So sweet of you to ask suggestions from YA users. Good luck! :)

I've been to Paris and i must say that the church called the Sacre Couer is on a little hill and has some of the nicest restuaurants up there! If you want to take her a cruise along the Seine, it costs around 50 - 70 Euros for an hour but its really worth it. You get to make a wish under the golden love bridge! Paris was an excellent choice!

I must say that this is dreamy and romantic, what a truly lucky woman! I pray that the two of you are endlessly happy, that your home never knows hunger, that it always has flavor, and that it is always blessed in abundance!

Here are a few reasonably priced restaurants for you; Musee d'Orsay Cafe,Le Train Bleu,Au Vieux Paris.

Propose to her by the Seine under the moonlight. That would be very romantic.

Two of my personal favourites (shown to me by a french boyfriend, a long time ago) are: The Cafe Procope which is the oldest restaurant in Paris (don't be fooled by the word "cafe") http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caf%C3%A9_Procope
And an amazing hotel, simply called "L'Hotel" http://www.l-hotel.com/
Both places are very old and elegant, totally glamorous in a Parisian way. Best of luck and enjoy. Paris is amazing.

Here is a list of restaurants selected for their romantic atmosphere. You can check the reviews (click on the links "avis à lire" under the description) and see what people think. Most of the reviews are in French but if you don't understand French, check the number of stars people gave (3 is the maximum):

I think L'Orangerie is what you are looking for (upscale and romantic), on the smaller of the two islands in Paris (île St-Louis). Ask for the table next to the fireplace.
28, rue St louis en l'île
75004 Paris

A cheaper, more casual yet still romantic and charming option is l'Impasse, near the lovely Place des Vosges in the 4th arrondissement too: http://www.limpasse.com/

If you really want to go fancy and expensive here is the list of 'restaurants gastronomiques' in Paris. Some of them are close enough to the river.

Hope she says yes!

You could take her to the restaurant on the Eiffel Tower. Or you could take her on a dinner cruise on the Seine. If I can think or more suggestions, I will come back and edit this response.

How about right in the Tour Eiffel?
http://www.restaurants-toureiffel.com/restaurant-le-jules-verne-tour-eiffel.html

the menus are from 155-190 euros, and they close before 10 pm so you have enough time and energy to walk around and/or celebrate in your cozy hotel suite : )

or slightly cheaper, and they close later, but stil in the tower. They have the menu on the internet, so you can see before hand if you'd like it:

what if she says no? shouldnt you take her for the meal before you ask her?

igorsvenska
i know a nice restaurant called "le parvis" wich is in the ile dieu (between l'hotel de ville and notre dame).

Caitlin M
That sounds really romantic. You should take her to the restraunt on the Eiffel Tower, or maybe to the Palace of Versilles. Good luck and best wishes!!!!!

JOHNNY M
i wish you and her the best Oriya

Awww...

It's a cute suggestion to propose on the boat but January is COLD in Paris.

Here's a famous restaurant in a great location which would fit the bill.

http://www.argon-direct.com/fouquets.htm

Otherwise, I found this great list of restaurants with views;
http://www.parisdigest.com/menus/restaurants-with-view-selection.htm

I can say that the Tour Montparnasse is a great idea to visit in January but I'm not sure about eating there. It's all modern and not very Parisian in my humble opinion.

Please come back and tell us what you decided to do...and how it went!

here is some great french food and its fancy but tastes nice but actually is really really gross but tastes good!
fagua(duck liver)
es cargo (snails in buttery stuff)
