Want to Move to France ?

My family and I are considering moving to France in the near future and we need lots of help. Are there services that help you relocate to a different country? Or that help get you acquainted with the city you want to move to (or help you pick a city)?

Basically, I want to move to France but know pretty much nothing about how to go about doing it.

Any suggestions??

Thanks!

I notice that you are a fellow Texan. However, it is not clear from what your previous questions reveal, whether you are independently wealthy or not.

If you are then moving to France is fairly easy. The French government has little problem with people moving to France who are fully capable of supporting themselves from their own resources. You need only apply for a long stay visa and then, once in France, obtain a "Carte du Sejour."

However, if you plan on working in France the situation becomes considerably more difficult. If you already have employment lined up then your future employer will be the best one to turn to for obtaining a visa and work permit.

If you don't have such employment already and plan on seeking work in France then be aware that this is not an easy thing to do. Since you say that you are only "considering" moving to France I fear this is your situation.

Unemployment in France is higher than in the United States, jobs are scarce, and fluency in French is required for any job other than the lowest paid and most menial. The French government is no more eager to grant foreigners work permits than the US government is. Citizens of the European Union already have a legal right to live in France and seek work there so non-EU foreigners are particularly unwelcome.

If you can overcome these obstacles then there are many companies that specialize in international relocations.

I advise you the french riviera. It's a beautiful place ! There is a great culture, sun every days, beach, restaurant, france is an "americanized" country so our way of life is like your ... there is 90% american/english music, 90% American movies and series, macdo(lol) , and a lot of people speak english and they are not arrogant like in Paris ;) .

paris is a ghetto unless you are a wealthy person, I have family in paris , he makes 100k a year and they have a 950 sq ft. condo costs 1/2 mil us, crazy moselim extremist, but you will have problems anytime you live in a city of 12 million, there is a lot of nice things also but i cant live in a small house unless absoleutly a must,
