We are in Paris Thursday-Sunday. What you recommend to see. How to find the best city tour.?

We'd like to spend most of the days for sightseeings and leave only half a day for shopping. Please advise what worth to see on our first visit to Paris? We think about Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Latin Quartier, Tour Eyfel, Monmartre, Siena cruise. Will we have chance to see all this? And go to Disneyland?

The only thing in Paris worth seeing is the Tour de France and Mc Donalds. While there be sure to order an extra helping of Freedom Fries and tell them to hold the snails.

Nobody mentioned Notre Dame or Sacre Coure Cathedrals yet. They are both amazing (in different ways) and worth a visit. I made the mistake of going to Notre Dame on Sunday when they were having mass (duh! they actually have mass there), so I would avoid visiting on Sunday.

Four days is not enough time for all of that. I would say don't try to go to Disneyland, you're in Paris! And the Louvre could take an entire day, so you'll need to figure out how high up on your list of priorities it is. The Metro in Paris is so simple to figure out, I would recommend getting a tourist's map and going on your own. I've done it that way 3 times now and have never been disappointed or wished that I would have taken a tour.

If I were you, I'd postpone Disneyland to another trip. There's a lot to see in Paris without venturing out to Disney. So many other things worth your while.

I'm not sure how you're getting around, but I'd suggest cruising the Metro. Buy a carnet of Metro tickets (un carnet du dix, s'il vous plait) and you'll get a booklet of 10 tickets.

You may want to get a museum pass...either a 2-day or a 4-day. It depends on how you organize your itinerary. If you want to squeeze in all your museums into two days, then opt for the 2-day pass. You can get your museum pass at a museum and stand in line, or you can get it at a metro ticket booth and pass to the front of the lines or get in a separate, much shorter line.

The Louvre can take the better part of a day. This place is huge...I could spend my entire trip roaming the halls of the Louvre. Enter the Louvre through the Carrousel du Louvre, an underground shopping center. Here's just a suggestion: Get to the Louvre right when they open...grab a bite to eat in the Louvre food court and later that afternoon (3 p.m. or so), you can stroll through Tuileries Garden, down the Champs-Elysees. Use your museum pass to climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Check out the crazy traffic below. The entrace to the Arc de Triomphe is on the right hand of the street...on the side with Virgin Megastore. You go into a tunnel and acutally go under the street to get to the Arc. Don't try to cross the street. Trust me. After the Arc, grab a bite to eat somewhere and head to the Eiffel Tower to take a cruise along the Seine River at night.

The Musee d'Orsay is a great place to spend a few hours as well. If you like Rodin (The Thinker, The Kiss), you could hit up his museum and pop over to Napoleon's Tomb at Invalides. They're usually less crowded than other museums. Notre Dame is beautiful. Your museum pass will allow you to climb to the bell towers. Sorry, no quick lines here. If you're in that neck of the woods and you are using a museum pass, you can go over to Sainte-Chapelle, the stained glass church. Don't get in line; with the museum pass, you get to go to the front of the line. Why more people don't have these passes is beyond me. Saves precious time. Also, if you're interested, you can visit the Conciergerie...see where Marie-Antoinette and countless others were imprisoned before they were beheaded.

The Latin Quarter has some great little shops and restaurants. Montmartre is great...Sacre Coeur Basilica is beautiful (just don't take photos inside!) and offers a great panoramic view of Paris from its steps. Be wary of the guys with the bracelets...they will ask for your wrist and proceed to tie a bracelet on and then can charge whatever they want (up to 20 Euros), just say No and keep walking.

If you do want to go shopping to Galeries Lafayette or whatever, do not go on a Saturday...it's a zoo there! They're closed on Sunday, so I'd go probably Thursday, if you do want to go.

Another place I really like is Pere Lachaise Cemetery...the most visited plot has to be Jim Morrison's. But you can see Heloise and Abelard, Oscar Wilde, Jane Avril and Chopin, among thousands of others.

If you are intersted in taking an introductory bus tour of Paris, I suggest Paris Vision or Cityrama. Both are located on Rue de Rivoli, across from the Louvre. Both offer a recorded commentary on the history of Paris. It's quite interesting and informative. I'd suggest that your first day. Then maybe head over to Sacre Couer and Montmartre. A great place to eat dinner is Auberge de la Bonne Franquette. It's a lot of fun...we go on Saturday nights when we're in Paris. They have these performers...one sings and plays the guitar and the other plays the accordion. The food is divine.

In any event, happy travels, wear your money belt and have a great time!

R.I.P.
You won't have time to do all that and do it properly! Monmartre is a must. Just look at the Eiffel Tower - there's no need to go up it. Use your imagination. You should walk down the Champs Elysees, spending some time looking at the Arc du Triumph and the mad roundabout it is in the middle of. The Latin Quarter is great - just sit in a bar and soak up the atmosphere. A Seine cruise is ok, if you like that kind of thing. Wouldn't know about Disneyland. Have a nice time!

T.G.
I'm a big fan of the Musee D'Orsay and not the Louvre. But, I like the time period of the Musee D'Orsay much better than the Louvre art (Orsay has much more modern art, which I prefer). The Mona Lisa is crowded at the Louvre. I saw it from about 10 feet away and it's surprisingly small.
I'd recommend doing all of the typical Paris things (Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Bateau Mouches (tour down the Seine River), the Opera).
I would also skip Disneyland, and I would skip Versailles....I thought that was overrated and VERY crowded.
Have a great time! I'm jealous! ;-)~
