You may be able to find a room - chambre - chez l'habitant" in the immediate. - If you build up a good relationship with the person renting a room, then they may be prepared to act as a guarantor in the future. Alternitivley, once employed in France, your employer can act as a referee.
Try the website "de particulier a particulier " They provide on line listings of all kinds of rented accomodation across France.
References aren't difficult to get, and you are able to use someone in another EU member state to be your guarantor, Your landlord needs to have the assurance that your referee will pay in the event that you don't and therefore you will need to give bank details of your referee and an assurance that they have the means to pay. - Usually this is pay slips, National ID card and a RIB (bank details). - If you have enough money saved, then you will be able to act as guarantors for yourselves. This is something that you will need to discuss with a French bank. - Barclays may be able to advise you on this, as they have a commercial outlet in France that is very popular amongst Brits making investments in France. - |

I doubt That you can get anywhere without a reference. In France you not only need a reference but you also need to have a French bank account, even to get gas and electricity etc. |

If you have lived in France before, then you should know where to track down this information. Try one of the ex-pat bulletin boards, they sometimes have links to private ads |

I would think that if you dress neatly and cleanly and are prepared to pay a largish (returnable) deposit against damage, you could find a flat to rent without references. You could always say you have never rented a flat before but always lived with your family?
Good luck. |
|

Keep Out
