Really warm dresses if you can buy them in Hawaii if not try the cheaper places in Paris like warehouses (Carrefour etc.) or of course fancy stores. Comfortable, warm shoes are a must since I suppose you'll do some sight-seeing. Don't forget something fancy as well for the evenings (shows,theatres...).

The average temperature is about 38-40 degrees F.

I would recommend a down coat that extends past her knees; I'm a real cold wimp and visit Helsinki frequently, and have found that to be the best coverage.

Here's my favorite coat. It's *very* lightweight. I'm currently in Helsinki where it's about 35 degrees, and this coat keeps me snuggly warm:

Don't forget earmuffs, gloves and a scarf.

I went to Paris this past March and had a knee-length wool coat with me. It was actually warm enough to just have a light jacket during the day, but the nights were cold. Take the suggestions of those above me and get a warm full length coat, gloves, earmuffs and a scarf. I used my pashmina as a scarf and it also doubled as a blanket and pillow while on the plane and bus. I bought the pashmina on ebay for about $5 and love it.

Also, bring along some cold medicine for runny nose, coughing, typical cold stuff. I ended up with a cold because of the rain, hail & snow in Copenhagen and missed out on alot. I say bring this stuff because you may not be able to get to a pharmacy, or understand what you are buying. Oh, don't forget the vitamin c. start taking that before you leave and continue through your trip. This will help stave off anything you may catch on the way over and from the shock of the weather.

Good luck and have fun, I LOVE Paris!

All of the above answers are good. February is the coldest month of the year. Tell her to dress really warm if she is not used to the cold. Do not wait to be there to buy warm clothes, order online if you can't find them easily in Hawai. She will be tired from the long flight and could therefore catch a cold easily as soon as she arrives, which would spoil her stay there.

- a long down coat
- a thick scarf
- a few sweaters
- gloves and hat and ear muffs.
- thick, high socks and comfortable waterproof shoes.

February is winter time in Paris. It does get cold and we even have snow at that time of year. Normally the temperature is above freezing but it still is cold. One thing that people from warm climates forget most often is a good pair of gloves and ear muffs to keep your hands and ears warm. I grew up in Southern California and am always surprised to see relatives show up with heavy coats but forgetting something to cover their ears and their hands, especially since they take so little space in the baggage.
