I'm going to france on exchange, and I want to suprise girl I'm staying with with a little american food. What are some american foods and meals that I can cook her that she probably doesn't eat in france?

There are some problems - like being able to get the necessary ingredients in France and the possibility that someone doesn't want you in their kitchen. That said, if you can bring your own pie pan, I'd make an applie pie and serve it with ice cream. I've seen tarts and single serving size pastries that are similar but nothing like a whole pie and not with ice cream.

Other ideas are:

Barbeque
Cajun
Baked beans
Sourdough bread
Tex-Mex
Clam chowder

Cakes would be a good idea.
Pumpkin pie, American cheesecake, carrot cake, pecan pie.

You could take some peanut butter for her to taste (although she probably won't like it!) Reese's peanut butter cups are a big hit.

Things to make...Pancakes with a brunch, macaroni and cheese, real hamburgers, meatloaf, grilled cheese--nothing really complicated but these have always been liked by my French friends. If you're feeling ambitious, make a Thanksgiving style meal!

i agree entirely with the peanut butter suggestion. Your French friend, most likely, will find it "disgusting", but at the same time, she'll be raving, because it's genuinely American (and cannot be found anywhere in Fran ce).

Get one of your relatives to teach you how to cook one or two of their special recipes. Be prepared to have to search really hard for the ingredients, though. I made risotto for my Parisian friend and had to make several substitutions. The finished product was not as good as the original, but he seemed to enjoy it.

Take a bag of chocolate and Sweets xD In France they do have Peanut butter xD but not in chocolates !!

Sweets in America are nicer xD

also when you get there make her a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwhich xD she won't like it, but she would have never eaten it before !! I've tried it -_- WORSTE thing I've eaten in my life

Also Sweets are about the only thing you can take into France, no Dairy problery Meat also because of the Aeroplane rules =)

Also take some drinks like... Gator Aid and Mountain Dew xD I think they might have Mountain Dew in France now but we still don't have it in Spain xD

just take her out to eat fast food

whopper, fried chicken, tacos
