it's in Europe! but it has various islands outside the European Continent, such as Martinique, which is in the Caribbean Sea therefore decisively out of Europe.
It's a department of France, therefore considered to be part of the European Union anyway. There are other islands and territories which are French but are outside Europe.

Hi there,
'Metropolitan France' (i.e. Mainland France) is in Europe. It is bordered to the south-west by Spain, Italy to the south-east, Switzerland and Germany to the west and Belgium & Luxembourg to the North.
However, as another user has rightly pointed out, France also has Overseas 'Départements' (equivalent to States) which are all over the world (Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean and Antarctica)
