Walk along the Seine River and you'll find all the exciting places to visit from Notre Dame to the Louvre to La Tour Eiffel...and you'll see other things that aren't in the guidebooks.

Ok, when it comes to France there are some obvious points of interest. But you asked for exciting, so here it is. You should go to Marseille, on the southern coast of France because it's a great place to visit, it's close for visiting other cool places like Cannes, Nice, and Monaco, and it's right on the beach. But when you're in Marseille, you have to go rock climbing in the Calanques. Go with a group of people, carry everything you'll need with you, including a disposable cooktop, LOTS of bottled water, and trashbags. The hike down into the canyon will be a lot harder when the water bottles are full, but what you find once you get inside will be completely worth it.
