It depends on whether you want to do the "tourist" thing or you want something more off the beaten track. Because the amount of time each "sight" takes to see, is a factor, too, you need to decide whether you want to see a lot of different sights or concentrate on just a few.

For example, Versailles is wonderful, but it's a full day trip to see a reasonable amount of it, so you'll need to decide whether you think it's worth it to spend that much time there. The same thing goes for Disneyland Paris - it's fun, but do you want to invest a full day of your vacation there?

I like to walk around in Paris - and you can see a lot of it in a relatively short time on foot. You should definitely take a walk along the Seine, and you absolutely should visit Notre Dame. I love to walk around in the 5th and 6th arrondissments (awesome restaurants in Saint-Germain-des-Prés), the Jardin de Luxembourg, the Palais Royal, and near the Louvre, go to Montmartre (the view from Sacre Coeur is awesome), and visit the Musée d'Orsay and the Eiffel Tower.

Get a good guidebook and make a list of the sights you want to see...and then leave yourself some free time to discover cool stuff on your own.

Have fun!

Pick up a Rick Steve's book. He always puts in great walking tours where he points out a lot of stuff you way not have noticed on your own.

What to see and do in Paris depends on your interests of course but most people checks out the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Notre Dame, Sacré-Coeur and Montematre, Musée d’Orsay, Château de Versailles etc etc. The list goes on and on as there are lots of stuff to see and do in Paris :-) I would advice you to buy a guidebook to read a bit about Paris before you go there and to have a map when you walk around town. Here is a trip report with photos, links and maps that I made after a trip there in 2006 http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you can find some useful info there to start with :-)
