Oh my gosh you won't believe all the stuff you can do here! Yes, of course tons of museums. One can live here for 20 years and never get to them all. But, there is more!

Opera, music, plays, 246 kinds of cheese, epicurie, Montmartre, African market, Chinatown!, fantastic cafes everywhere, flea markets, catacombs, Pere Lechaise cemetery, Buttes Chaumont, Monceau, Luxembourg Gardens, Cite de Science, EuroDisney, the Canals, Notre Dame, Ile de la Cite, Oberkampf bars and restaurants, Bastille nightlife, Le Marais, Saint Germaine de Pres, the list goes on...

If you want to get away from the tourists:

Go watch people playing petanque at Canal Ourcq - very cool. See a play or music performance at Peniche Opera or Abracadabra on the Canal (floating opera houses). Rent a bike and enjoy old-fashioned hot/cold chocolate at the "velo et chocolate" chocolate house and bike shop, take a stroll through Buttes Chaumont park on a saturday to see all the orthodox jews, sephardic jews, muslims, christians strolling together (the world could take a lesson from the 19th!), Go to Belleville Saturday morning, St. Germaine de Pres on Thursday morning...

Then take a fast train to see Bretagne - Saint Malo, Saint Michelle, Dol; maybe Versailles (25 min away from paris) to get a taste of things outside Paris...

Check out the big plaza in front of the Centre Pompidu (Which contains the Museum of Modern Art). On most sunny afternoons you'll find all sorts of street entertainers there. Among these will almost always be some guys doing big involved audience participation comedy bits. When they call for volunteers (and they always do) don't hesitate to stand up. The fact that you probably don't speak French will be NO problem. These guys tend to be very good and very funny. You'll have a great time and if you can have someone snap a picture you'll have a great story to tell when you get home (and a photo to prove it).

At 10 p.m. every Friday night thousands of people gather in the the Place d'Italie and proceed to rollerskate thru the streets accompanied by a special Police unit to clear the way and keep them safe. Here's a little website about it: http://www.inlineonline.co.uk/paris.htm

Lucky you! I would sit lazily sip on cappuccino in the many small outside cafes, people watching is very popular. If you prefer more rambunctious activities, rent a bike and go cycling among the many small village streets..be sure to bring a good camera and see the Eiffel Tower.

my favorite thing to do in the evening was buying cheap wine, bread, cheese, fruit, etc., and picnicking on le pont des beaux-arts, which is one of the bridges which goes across the seine. there were always groups of people lining the bridge doing the same thing.

Visit the palaces, Notre Dame and the many many old churches, walk through the west bank.

there's so much more to paris than museums and art galleries!! paris is a city of bustling fashion and they are one of the classic romance countries. theres the eiffel tower which you can go up at a very affordable price. theres champs-elysees..the avenue of big shopping! see the arc de triomphe. try to catch a paris st. germain football/soccer game. see the seine river or get on one of the ferries! see..there are plenty of things you can do in paris! enjoy yourself. a must, of course, see the eiffel tower. thats what paris is known for after all.
