What are the best places in france for a british asian family to settle down?
Unless you want to live in a place full of East Asians you can live anywhere as long as you can afford it.
Unlike the US there are so many little Japanese, Korean, China, Taiwan...etc towns, in France I have only heard of the China town in Paris.

I think it doesn't depend on the fact that you're a british asian family... but more on what places you like (mountains, countryside, seaside, big cities, small cities, worm, cold...), on the jobs you can get (so on your skills), on the things you like to do (for leisure)... If we don't take all that in consideration we can say you can settle down everywhere in France.

It also depends on your marketable skills.
France is still very centralised, and for instance most head offices of international companies are located around Paris.
But you have clusters in different places: shipping and cruising around Marseilles; aero-industry around Toulouse; IT near Sophia-Antipolis and Nice.
What are you planning to do ?
No pun intended, Asian restaurants open up everywhere in France.
