Paris has something for everyone. In addition to the Eiffel Tower, here are a few of my favorite places: Louvre (so much more than the Mona Lisa), Musee d'Orsay ( a room full of van Goghs), Rodin Museum (see the Thinker, The Kiss and The Gates of Hell), Napoleon's Tomb and War Museum (you can see his actual horse and dog...both have been stuffed and mounted), Pere Lachaise Cemetery (visit the burial sites of Chopin, Oscar Wilde and Jim Morrison), Sacre-Coeur Basilica (beautiful inside and out...just don't try to take a photo of the interior, you will be escorted out. There's a great panoramic view from the steps of Sacre Coeur), Montmartre (I love strolling around the bohemian section), Notre Dame Cathedral (climb to the top of the bell towers and get a gargoyle-eye view of Paris), Sainte-Chapelle (this beautiful stained glass church was actually built to house the Crown of Thorns), Conciergerie (see where Marie-Antoinette and countless others were held prior to their date with Monsieur Guillotine), etc.

You can stroll along the Seine River. Take a nocturnal cruise on the Seine on a bateaux-mouche...you can take a day cruise as well. Browse the enormous selection of books at Shakespeare and Company. There is also the "new" Paris...La Defense. Check out the Grand Arche de la Defense...it's so big that Notre Dame Cathedral could fit under it. There's also a rather large shopping complex there. Check out the cupola of the Galeries Lafayette Department store...just don't go on a Saturday, you will get trampled.

On Champs-Elysees, there is a Virgin Megastore that sometimes has celebs signing autographs. It's worth a peek to see who's going to be there. There's also the Arc de Triomphe...climb to the top to see how crazy the traffic is.

You could take an introductory bus tour of Paris, if you'd like. Paris Vision and Cityrama both offer the tours with commentary via headphones. It's a good way to learn some historical background and jot down places you would like to return.

I like the Latin Quarter...great places to eat.

You could also take a day trip if you so desire. There's Versailles, Chateaux Country, the Loire Valley, London, Bruges, Normandy, Mont-St-Michel. Or you could just hang out and explore Paris.
