What are the french like ? |
I'm leaving in two days for France for my job but, although my french isn't that bad, my knowledge of the country and its people really sucks. Is there anything important I ought to know before meeting a frenchman for example ? Any typical habits or else ? Thanks cause I don't feel that well ready to meet them ! |

there is a wonderful book called 'Almost French' by sarah turnbull (I think that is her name) she is an australian journalist who met and married a French man. grab that book any way you can an read it as it will give you important insights. In many ways their society is far more cultured than most and education seems to be better (than Australia - not sure about other countries though). I love France and especially Paris. all the very best with your move:) |

@ LEUAN BAR... :
-we don't hate the other nations, we only hate the fools who say we surrender in all wars whereas their only argument to say this is the year 1940, and they forget that we never surrendered in WWI for example, and not more in the previous wars, and that some French refused to surrender in WWII and kept fighting in France or in Africa (Free French Forces). Some Americans still blame us for having refused to go to Irak but know they are so embarassed with this war, they realize it was a mistake but of course they forget that the French were right, they cannot bear this idea.
And we are not arrogant we are proud.
So do like G. K. Charleston and "let a fool hate France". And remember that "Francophobia is a global mediocrity" (Milan Kundera). |

They were exceedingly polite in Paris, even a beggar when I didn't give him any change.
Many parts are full of British expats who often get drunk in public and cause a bit of trouble. |

There meant to be the craziest drivers said by scientists so I'm not lying. They enjoy things like wine. Some of them do speak English. |

They like only themselves, hate pretty much any other nation, are very arrogant, surrender in plenty different wars (they're national flag should be plain white), but they have pretty good looking women. That sums it up basically. |
