Monet's Gardens of Giverny are about an hour away from Paris. They are closed after November 1 and before April 1, but they are beautiful, and the gardens change during the day because of the impact of light on the gardens. The Cathedral of Chartres is about an hour away from Paris by train or car. It is said to be the most beautiful of all the Gothic Cathedrals. Auvers sur Oise is the site of Vincent Van Gogh's last home, and his works are highlighted by street signs. His grave is in the cemetary of Auvers. And do not miss the Palace of Versailles. It is magnificent. |

There are many places to see in Paris, but if you have enough time you can do trips to the castles of Loire's valley, to Fontainebleau and Barbizon (the village of painters ), to Euro Disney Park and to Versailles Palace. If you are in Paris after 20 Oct., don't forget the Chocolate Exposition. |
