Québécois and modern continental French while mutually intelligible do have some differences.
Quebec was sparsely settled and at the time it was settled there was still a great variety of French spoken in France. Regional dialects were very common.
The need to communicate meant that the Quebec population adopted what might be called the Royal Court French.
After the revolution, France began a process of making the language uniform, surpressing local and regional dialects, and, in a sense, exiling the Royal court French and substitutiong a new middle class French.
But by this time Quebec had fallen under English rule and the people of Quebec were isolated from these changes.
Thus in Quebec today people use forms which are no longer used in France such as the use of "y" instead of "lui" (J'y ai donné l'argent...I gave him the money) or saying "moé" and "toé" instead of "moi" and "toi."
Other differences include:
Adding "tu" after questions example: Il en veut-tu?
A tendency to elide or contract where no mainland French speaker would. Thus "T'sais?" for "Tu sais?" and "À c't'heure" (pronounced as "asteure") for "À cette heure" and "V'la" for "Voila." |

Canadian French and European French are not that different, they just have a few different phrases and words, and the accent, but that's all. |

The most obvious one is the accent (which I love!) and some of the words are different - like between English speaking Canadians and the British. |
