There are no specific entry requirements. You don't even need to apply for a 'carte de séjour' anymore - la loi Sarkozy ended all that nonsense of queuing up outside the préfecture for hours on end. Nowadays a British citizen has an equal right to live and work in France as a French citizen and British citizens are welcomed in France. It would help if you have notions of French before arriving but even that isn't essential anymore as you can easily find work in an all-english speaking environment and pick up French via a language school and / or the people you meet.

Although the UK didn't sign the Schengen agreement, as a British citizen you are free to move unhindered throughout mainland Europe using only a picture driving licence as ID if you so wish. A passport is always handy though if you suddenly have to leave the continent for whatever reason.

If you're a UK citizen going into France, all you need is your UK passport. The UK and France are both part of the European Union so you can move freely between the two countries with no problem. Otherwise, if you're just going to France for a short holiday, all you need is a passport.

AS A EUROPEAN CITIZEN, YOU DO NOT NEED A SCHENGEN VISA TO GO TO FRANCE.

You benefit from freedom of movement within the European space. Be advised that a valid passport or a national I.D. card are compulsory.

that depends on your nationality...or more specifically what passport you hold. Most Western countries can travel freely to France without a pre arranged visa however if you hold a passport from a non visa exempt country you will be required to obtain a shengen visa prior to arrival. Shengen visas can be issued by any of the shengen visa countries and will allow you travel into France.
