What benefits can we get in France if i am disabled & cant work? Im going there with my partner&3 kids? |
My partner is French and therefore so are our 3 kids. What benefits can I/we claim from the French government if we go to live there, bearing in mind i am disabled and cant work?
Also anyone know anything about housing?
im from the uk and i dont call a job typing for 30 minutes. Maybe i could still try to get a job there then, and just find myself unable to do it. |

This is weird I thought I just answered this Q!
You cannot claim anything unless you have worked in France and that the reason that you become disabled is from a work accident happened in France.
You would need to prove it too!
Edit: Housing, do you mean how expensive the rent is and how much it costs to buy a house?
The cheapest area in France is the area near the Belgium, Luxembourg border. Housing in France are fairly expensive, but I believe in UK cost of living is even higher?

Hi
is your husband disabled too?
as he worked in France before and paid tax?
You have to prove that you cannot work at all to claim benefit in France, and also if your husband is able to work you probably won't get much at all.
as for housing it is again very difficult to get benefit and absolutely impossible to get a mortgage.
However there is a lots of association for disabled people over there and they will be able to guide you and maybe help you with your situation.
Association des Paralysés de France (apf)
there is different associations for different disabilities. good luck. |

First you have to get a resident permit, pay your taxes, get registered at the French Social Security (never a given) and go through a medical screening process that will decide your level of disability and what help you are entitled to if any.
If you are disabled and recognised as so you are entitled to some monthly benefits as long as you are legally in France, calculated by the Social Security.
If you never had a job in France so never paid the unemployement insurance, you are not entitled to any help on that level.
Your French partner, once registered, will be entitled to some money for the three kids, it is called 'allocations familiales'.

You can't claim anything in France unless you have made contributions for more than 6 months. You sound typically British in that you think work is an option and the world owes you a living. A good friend of mine is paraplegic, he works full time and would never stoop to living on handouts. |

benefits in France are for people who have tried to work and not scroungers. |
